yes, search anandtech and the other sites mentioned for info. and be sure to look at drives by TDK, Yamaha, Richo and Sanyo too. They all have some very good drives. Don't be suckered into the plextor fan club w/out doing some research!

I agree with him and NO I didn't get a lemon I just tend to let the reviews speak for the product and not just a bunch of people repeating what they heard or never trying another product...
often for the 40-50 bucks more it cost to buy plextor (30 percent increase), which I am speaking of the 12x speeds ofcoure you don't get 30 percent better performance or reliability. The reviews at www.reviewstorage.com show the ricoh/aopen drive is better then the plextor in many many areas...
So just blindly follow a bunch of ppl if money isn't an object, but this site seems to be pretty aware of it in terms of products they support.
