Hi there,

I'm looking to replace my Ricoh ATAPI DVD/CDR/CDRW drive with a DVD burner/CD burner ('superdrive') combo... Any suggestions for a good choice that uses the EIDE interface instead of SCSI? Also, is the standard leaning toward the DVD-R vs. the DVD+R? (That was my impression...) Thanks!

Any idea when this will be shipping? Also, would the PX-504A be a good lower cost alternative? (HyperMicro has the retail box for $183)...

-Thanks,

HyperMicro is a great place to get stuffs, however the 504 you mentioned is a much lesser Burner as it only does +DVD/RW along with CD burning. I would wait as Newegg has their 2nd shipment due in anyday and another great feature about this burner is the write speeds of CDR/RW 40X-24X. The standard is leaning toward + but I haven't seen or used a Player that didn't handle -. I would suggest having both sides covered as we never know. A less pricier one would be the Pioneer A06 or Sony has 1. Me I'm waiting for the Plextor BTA I already have the A05 by Pioneer which can be had for around $130 nowadays
