Vote one for Nero 5.5 because it is easy to use. I haven't tried others.

Isn't Roxio the company that sells Easy CD? Anyways, Nero has been my choice but started to use CDMate lately (better interface, quicker in erasing CDRWs).

Another vote for nero

it isn't as "hey dumbass, this is how you do stuff" as ez cd creator is, but once you get past the learning curve it is the best

PC World rated Stomp's "Click-n-Burn" pro as the best CD writing software:

Click-n-Burn

I have never used it myself, but it has received good reviews.

Here is a review of several cd burning apps by Cnet, they rated click-n-burn #1 for PC:

Cnet cd burning software review

I personally use Windows XP's built-in burning (Roxio engine) for data and music CD's, and VCDEasy for video CDs. Works great.

I generally use Nero as it's the most advanced program IMHO.

Of late Stomp's Click-n-Burn is quickly catching up to Nero, which used to have absolutely no competition. It's a bit easier to use then Nero too, and quite a bit cheaper, with a few small features even Nero lacks... the biggest disadvantage is it doesnt support DVD's yet but for most that won't matter.

Roxio/Easy CD Creator STINK.... they look fancy and are relatively simple to use but their filled with bugs, are inconsistent, and have very limited capabilities.

cdrecord

Other than that, I've used Easy CD Creator (which is a horrid piece of crap) and MusicMatch Burner. MusicMatch Burner is ok, we use it at work. I use cdrecord along with mkhybrid or mkisofs at home.

I've tried them all...Each has its ups and downs...I tend to use NTI for most cd copying - nero, cdr-win, cd-mate and blind read/write for the difficult cd's.

Adeptec was good, but it was particular. And it usually would not work well, if at all, if you had any of the aformentioned programs installed. So, I don't use ezcd......

Thats my 3.5 cents....Aardy

Heres the link to NTI- Nti Free Download:cool:

Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 is packed with utilities and features. No instabilities whatsoever on Windows XP. No complaints.

Good point, I forgot NTI.... not quite as versatile as Nero/Click-n-Burn but definitely easier to use.
Not a bad program at all.

I have Nero 5.5.8.2 and I saw the tweak online about how to change the shortcut to access Nero Express. Anyway, which program do you think is better, Nero or Nero Express? On my burner (TDK VeloCD 40/12/48B) Nero Express burned ~5 seconds fatser than Nero with a full Data CD.

I am looking for a solution to my problem using Roxio with Xp Professional. I have recently upgraded from Xp Home to Xp Pro. I have a Compaq 5320US with a Pentium 4 and 768 RAM. Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Basic came with the computer and I was able to use it at that time. After upgrading, the program will get to near completion when making a direct copy of a program cd and then it will just hang. When I open the Windows Task Mgr to stop the program it stops and gives an error suggesting that I disable antivirus software or check my virtual memory settings. I restored my system to a previous time using System Restore which caused problems with Norton antivirus and I uninstalled NAV. While it was uninstalled I tried to copy a cd and got the same error so I don't think it in NAV. My virtual memory is set for the computer to choose the best settings. The reason I think it is the upgrade to Xp Pro is that I have another computer, a Compaq 7470, which came with burning software called CeQuadrat. I burned many cds with this computer using CeQuadrat and never had a problem. Then I also upgraded this second computer to Xp Pro and now when I just try to start CeQuadrat I get the message 'SCSI not found' and the program will not even open. The first computer has a Lite-On LTR-12102C. I have been to the Roxio website and gotten the latest upgrade, but I still have the same problem. I have tried three brands of cdr: Prime Peripherals, TDK, and Imation. Although I have tried to copy more than one cd, I have mainly been trying with a cd that I copied at my brother-in-law's about two weeks ago. I do not have very much computer knowledge and would appreciate any help. At this point I am willing to try anything, because the burner is useless as it is right now anyway. Any assistance you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've also gotten throw my vote in for Nero and INCD ... every time I try to use Easy CD or something, it won't read my discs, or doesn't detect my drive ,or ... blah blah. With Nero I never have any problems - I even got a friend to switch over :)

I love Nero. but for my girlfriend I installed Roxio in her system because she can use it easier and she loves the label creator in it. go figure, she doesn't want to go through the learning curve or burn CDs as fast as possible....she is just happiest with simplicity.
