Best CD/DVD to use with a CDR?

I'm looking to get a plextor 12x10x32a from buy.com, and heard something about how other drivers are better for reading "sectors" on copy protected CD's, something like it takes less time with certain dvd drives and Toshiba drives then it does for regular cd drives. I'll be using Neuro, and looking to backup games like my D2 cds, and UT cds, stuff like that.
