Nice find! I haven't had any problems with any media that I've used. But I pretty much stick to name brand.

"Made in Japan" Fuji. They're almost guaranteed to be TY as long as you can see "Made in Japan" on the package.

TDK is utter crap. The backing bubbles and flakes off the CD like old paint on a seaside building. I like Memorex.

Memorex sucks, and if you say they are good you are a fool. TDK is good as long as you get the CD-Rs that say made in Japan. Fuji Film rule all. The Fuji Film and TDK's made in Japan are made by a company called Taiyo-Yuden. TY CD-Rs are among the highest quality CD-Rs. I have never had a coster with one of them at 52x, cant say that for memorex.

I like Verbatim's DLP Crystal CD's.

They're very durable, and relatively hard to scratch.

I get whatever is on sale, and it always works. Granted my drive only burns at 8x, but it hasn't had any problems or gains with any particular brand before.

Calling someone a fool because their personal experience differs from your's is BS so just stop it. I've burned 100's of CDs over the last 2years using various speed memorex as the speeds increased and not only not had a single coaster that wasn't my fault but the oldest are still easily read by various other drives. I have known people who bought TDKs that it later turned out were intentionally mislabled to reduce inventory on them with the result they wouldn't burn at the speed that they were advertised, I intend to remain with Memorex based on personal experience and not be disuaded by the Taiyo-Yuden nazis who believe it's the only good medium

I like the TDK's from Japan. I usually pick them up at Costco for like 15 bucks or so after MIR.

My experiences with memorex *CDRWs* was aweful. Maybe their CDRs aren't as bad (I think there's a spindle of 30 free ones in a closet at my house SOMEWHERE) but those were total crap. By comparison I haven't had an issue w/ TDKs yet, CDRW.

For CDRs, my preference (although most of these seem to be impossible to find now) has traditionally been:
Ricoh (scratch that nowadays)
Sony
Kodak
...
It doesn't really matter as much now as when I first got my trusty Ricoh 4x write/rewrite drive many years ago. ;)

Kodak is still top on my list, if only I could find some more of their unbranded spindles :(
