Mods, plz move to OT.
So I'm a student. I've had my first card for nearly a year and then I wanted to trash it cuz it only has a $600 limit. Considering my parents make me pay for their stuff too with my card (just to try to get the limit to go up), I definitely need a new card. I got an AMEX card recently, but I don't qualify for Blue Cash yet (need 6 months). They gave me an $8k credit line, and so I went back to B of A to request a raise on my Visa card, but they gave me bs and told me to get a new card. I got a new card shortly with 9.4k limit and it's only 1%.
Now, I've calculated that while rewards are good, cashback is the best (just use your cashback on a reward, and it will be more worthwhile).
If I'm correct, the Citi card is the best? 5% on some stuff and 1% on everything else? I'm pretty sure I can get easily approved as my last app was an instant approval with B of A.
I plan to upgrade my AMEX card to Blue Cash when my 6 months is up, and I'll keep it only because I've found AMEX to be a little more convenient in some international places (Taiwan), and although the cashback is not as good as the Citibank card, I guess it can serve as a backup.
BTW, is there any advantage of using Mastercard over Visa or vice versa?
Also, I won't need any interest rate crap because I pay my balance off full each month.
