Best case for under $50

Hi,
I am bilding a new PC, AMD Althon 64 with a DFI or MSI 939 pci-e motherboard. I was thinking that maybe around $30-50 for a case is good? Anyone know which I should buy?

Thanks

You may also want to check out the Antec Super Lanboy, just picked one up at CC for $39.95 on a price match with Comp USA. I really don't know if there is a better case/psu out there for $40????

My current rig reside in an LX-6A19, and I'm perfectly happy with it. Nice little case for the price.

The 6A19 and the SLK3000-B are identical inside - one of the best mid-tower designs ever, IMO. It's just a matter of whether you want a door on the front or not.

Agree 🙂

Both of these cases are made by Compucase. For a taller version check out the Compucase 6919 for $45.
It's about same size as the Antec 8xx/10xx and Chieftec Dragon series. Click around on the same site and you will find another version, 6920, which has a door on front. Great case.

The 6919 does have rubber grommets on most of the hard drive slots and it's easy to mod the cage to accept grommets on those that don't. The 6920 has grommets on all.

As far as the comparison goes between the Performance 800/1000 series goes, the Compucase(s) are quite similar feature wise except they take a 120mm fan in the backboard and either 80's or 120 in front. The Performance cases only take 80's. Also, the Antec/Cheiftec models are made by Chenming as opposed to Compucase/HEC for these others. Lastly, the Chenming cases have a nice side door latch which the Compucase models lack. Good stuff either way.

Cavalier is a nice, easy case to work with (tool-less is a big plus, drive locking system is excellent.) Shipping is a little high, but SVC has been excellent. I ahve the very same case, and it's a great one to work with. Not too heavy, bezel looks snappy and locks in very nice. Overall, a great case, and a steal at this price.

Chieftec Dragon Series. One of the best cases of all time! (They are IIRC ~$9 over your budget though, but well worth the money)

Cavalier 3 has a VERY POOR front bezel air intake; only a handfull of small diameter holes on the bottom front. For this reason, I would pass unless you want to do some modding.
