I'm looking to buy a new computer real soon and I want to know what you guys suggest me. I don't want to spend more than $100 US unless it's a HUGE improvement and I want a 300 Watts or better P4 approved PSU. I live in Canada, (Montréal) so Newegg is not an option since they don't ship to Canada. This is what my local store (with the widest selection available) has to offer. You can see that here (1$ US=1.6$ CAN) but I can buy it online too.

Your help is very appreciated !

Antecs are very nice and the first choice of many users here. Also know that Antec cases are just rebranded Chenming cases; other companies, such as Chieftec, Enermax and others sell the exact same case under different names, so if you shop around you can pick up an "Antec" case for real cheap.

Another suggestion is the Fong Kai FK-320. I own one, and it is a fantastic case. It has many many useful features; one that I just realized is that there are no cables attached to the front bezel. In other words, the power and reset buttons and LEDs are connected to the chassis itself, so you can remove the front bezel to, say, clean an air filter, without having to mess around with cables. It also has room for a 92 or 120mm fan in the front, and uses a 92mm fan with a shroud above the CPU. The fan is set to suck air INTO the case by default; different people have had different results with fan orientation. Directron sells them with an Enhance 300W PSU; a fairly nice PSU.

With either an Antec/clone or the Fong Kai, you wont be disappointed. Both are incredible cases for the price.

Should I get a 8XXsx model or a 10xx model? What are the main differences. I'd like to have a case that allows me to access my drives quickly, without the removal of a panel each time (can I remove that panel from the 1000sx series?)
Do I need a 400 watts PSU for this setup?
P4 1.6a overclocked with standard HSF, 2 HDD@7200RPM, 2 or 3 case fans, 1 CDRW, 1 DVD, 1 CD-ROM, a GeForce4, SB 512 PCI and an Ethernet card.

Thank you very much !

You can remove the door from the 1000 series, but it looks awkward that way. Chieftec/Enermax and some others that also sell rebranded Chenmings have some models that are exactly like the 1000 series but sans the door.

The main differences between the 800 and 1000 are: the latter has one more 5.25 drive bay, and an extra 3.5 drive cage. Other than that they are almost identical; same height, width and depth, same chassis structure, etc etc.

I would hazard a guess and say that 350W PSU would be more than adequate for your setup.

I planned to watercool my CPU and vid card but I think i'll just buy a good case with a nice and quiet power supply like the new antecs with True Power. You guys convinced me !!! For the Power supply, I think i'll get the True Power but is 330w enough? I have a cheap 250wPSU right now for my badass rig (P3 500-384megs ram and a nice TNT2 Ultra....) and I wonder why I should get a 400 watts PSU. Yes I know, it gives me more options, but how much is enough :)

I have 2 of these.

well the gateway 6400 is the same case with a different front plastic part. anyway, they are in my opinion better than the antec 10x0 series. they are built sturdier with good cooling. anyway, if you want something different from the majority of AT'ers and want something that is quality this is the case for you.

<< nobody ever owned LiteOn FS020 ?? the best case >>

Awesome fricken case!!! But I think a little hard to find under $100.

The Antec 8xx and 10xx series are nice. Also the Chenbro 610----- A great case for the price..and you can run 80mm, 92mm or 120mm front and rear fans (you choice on the size) with no modding.

I got an Evercase (black) ECE4252 case - I'm really happy with it - it is almost totally screwless, even the drive bays (although I used a few screws just to make sure it was mounted stably.) It came with a 300Watt PS, a side fan attachment. The only flaw I found was the lack of a removalbe mobo tray which made putting my CPU fan on a little tough, not to mention mounting the mobo itself.

Mike

PS. While I got mine from NewEgg for $44 +$15 S/H, the EverCase website should give you a vendors list of places you can buy from.

I know it's a little over 100 bucks, but do you think the Performance Plus serie from Antec (with TruePower PSU) would be a good deal?
