What are you running to get a 50% CPU load in Windows? Are you watching five 720p YouTube videos at once or something?

Maybe you should run a scanner to see what parasitic background process you’re running that’s leeching so much processing power?

Ya I know. I should probably do a Windows 7 reinstall 😉 My Hard drive is almost full and general windows experience is becoming a crawl.

Looks like the OP might run some benches of 6000+ and the X3 for a comparison.

It's pretty easy. If I find my system under-performing then fire up a monitor tool like MSI Afterbuner and look at GPU use. If your GPU use is under 90% then either your CPU is the bottleneck OR the game just isn't demanding OR Vsync is on.

Thank you for the advice.

What caused this question was when I checked Anandtech Bench for (A) Athlon X2 6000+ and (B) Athlon II X3 435, I get the following.

Fallout 3 A-76 B-79 fps
Left for Dead A-93.5 B-97 fps
Farcry 2 A-33.5 B-40 fps
Crysis Warhead A-58.5 B-69 fps

A lot of people think the X3 is a nice budget gaming cpu. How can anyone say that his cpu is holding back a 8800 gt or 4850 is incomprehensible to me. I get the impression that some individuals just throw out that statement.

ok so i have all my parts together. it there a quick benchmark I can run on the current (X2 6000\8800GS ) setup so that I can compare it to the new (X3 \ HD5770 ) setup ?

Also since Im switching from Nvidia to AM , what can I use to cleanly remove the old graphics driver from this build. I do not want to reinstall windows .
