 I need a video card for under $100. I've been hearing good things about the ATI 8500LE, but am wondering if a GEforce3 is better. I mainly need the card to play games for the next couple of years and don't want to have to buy a new card. So basically i want a card that will last for the newest upcoming games but not cost me a bundle. What is the best card out there for this?

The base model Geforce 3 is hovering around $110-120 shipped. The sub-base model Ti200 should run you about $90-100. The 8500LE, I believe, is around the Ti200 price range, and can smack it around sideways.

The Radeon8500LE currently is the best value for the money.

Yup, get an real, actual radeon 8500 advertised as an LE at newegg. It is listed with all the other 8500LE boards, it is the $94 bulk version which doesn't support a dvi-vga adapter.

i was able to get a robanton (prolink retail box version) gf3 ti200 64mb on ebay for $61 + $10 shipping. they normally go for $65-70 new + shipping there. i think thats a great value, the card runs everything, and its an nvidia which i like, since most of my other cards are nvidia and i dont have to worry about drivers since i can swap all my cards around.

compgeeks .com had some good deals too with geforce3 (original) for $65 or so.

I got the gf3 from compgeeks for 60 bucks + 7 shipping.

if I hadn't I would have gotten the radeon 8500 le from newegg. they are heads and tails above even the ti500

is there a big difference between the 8500 n the 8500LE. what about the 8500 128MB card. i found it for about $20 more. i want a card that i don't have to upgrade within a couple of years that can play practically anything up till then with little frame loss. thanks.
