Well, I think alot people would agree that pre-doom 3, the 9800 Pro would be the best bang for the buck video card, and some would still say it's good for Doom 3 anyway...but what I want to know is that what card should I get to get the most out of my system? Since if any part of a machine bottlenecks then the money is wasted on the other parts...right?
So basically I have
P4C 2.8ghz HT Northwood
1GB Geil Value PC3200
Western Digital Special Ed. 80GB 7200RPM
P4P800E-Deluxe
Currently using a Radeon 9600 Pro.
After looking at the Doom 3 CPU Battleground article from Anandtech (http://anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2149) I am still confused on what card I should get to get the most out of my system. Baiscally, the first page of that article suppose to help you decide that by putting a 6800U and a 9800 pro to the test and check their performance with different CPUs, but I dont think I completely understood it. Also I will be playing some MMORPG that doesnt boast the best graphics but still demand alot during massive gathering of players such as during a Raid, which part of my system is important for things like that? Assuming the internet connection is smooth.
PS: When I went to my local Bestbuy store...(not really local drove 30 min), I saw one copy of a BFG 6800 regular, and to my suprise...it looked nothing like the one BestBuy advertised on its website. It had 2 fans instead of 1, and a silver-color cooling case over the board instead of the color Mermaid. Anyone else notice that?
