For my HTPC, I looking for a cost effective video card used primarily for DVD playback using TVout. In my researching, I'm thinking my best choices are the Radeon 7500 and the Geforce 4 MX 440. My main concern is which has better TV-out quality, and secondly which would be better for light gaming (NFL Blitz, EA Sports games). They are both in the $60 range. That would be my upper spending limit, and anything less would be nice. Thanks for any thoughts.

Spend the extra $12 and get an 8500, even if it is clocked at only 230/230. Both of those cards are DX7 only...DX9 is out and this means that you'll be 2 generations behind...I would understand it in a used piece of hardware, but not in something brand new.

That said however, the 7500 would make a nice 2D/TV out/DVD card. You might want to check out the new AIW7500...there's a review of it over at hardocp.com.

Nvidia simply has poor 2d and tv-out so I wouldn't reccomend it to you. It would probably be faster in games though.
