Best card for CS?

Like many of you, I play CS. A lot. Yet my ASUS V6800 Geforce DDR 32MB card is having some serious video issues with the game. Therefore, I wish to eBay the pos and buy a card that's awesome for Counter-Strike since that's the only game I play. What would be the best choice? I don't need anything fancy, just a good card that will run CS nicely in opengl mode under Win2k Pro. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here's a few screenshots to demonstrate the screwyness of my current cs

LOL! Some poor sucker is gonna get a pos.

Looks like you have a texture problem. Might want to try reinstalling Cstrike before you go buying a new card, but if you really want to, I'd suggest a GF3. Or if you have that nasty feeling in your stomach from plomping down $300+ on a video card, just get a GF2GTS/PRO/ULTRA, whichever you can afford.

That looks bad.

If 800 by 600 is okay, I got 70 fps on my 16 meg vodoo3 or ati rage 128 pro (very cheap cards). But I also am at 1.4 GHz, which you need for CS (speedage)

If you want to play at 124*768*32 and ALWAYS get 99 FPS with PERFECT detail, get a kyro2 for 120ish at newegg.

I don't think you really need a 1.4 for "speedage"..hehe. I'm on my cel500 w/ v3 2000 running at 1024 rez and getting 60-65 fps...

But it would be nice if i had a 1.4 =/ *sigh*.

Oh no way do you need a 1.4 for CS. But CS is very CPU dependent. If he has a k6-2 400, not much will help him as he is CPU limited.

Actualy, right now I'm running cs in 640x480! Even though I have a 19" monitor, which shows how desperate I am just to get cs to work properly. I have a P3-500 cpu, which isn't the greatest. But if all I wanted was a card that runs cs smoothly, and can handle new games decently, then Kyro II is my best bet?

You can get a radeon 64MB DDR for about $150. or you can get a Kyro II, but im not sure how much that costs. Both cards are pretty good but i cant say much for the Kyro II since i dont have one, i do have a radeon 64MB DDR VIVO and i love it. I use it on my PII-400 and i get around 40-90 fps at max resolution. It kinda jumps around depending on how many people are in the screen , i think it has to do with the processor though. Ive read and heard that the Geforce 3's were great but their 2D quality sucks plus they cost $300+. On my other system which is also a P2-400 i got a TNT1 in there and get about 20-60fps at 800x600.

On a guess I would assume you are using D3D as the rendering option change that to OpenGL.

My flatmate has a V6800 deluxe and its great for CS. I currently run a CL GTS and its also awesome for cs.

Try updating your drivers to the 6.50 series they can be found here

i have a celeron 566@700 with a v3 2000.....CS runs great...
how much of a performence increase will i see with a v5 5500??

also in CS, how do you see the FPS?

msi's geforce2 pro at newegg for $142 is a good deal. but it's always out of stock because everyone buys it before i can get to it! aHHHHHH @$%!$^@#$^@$^@!#*&.

Wow a GF DDR is doing poorly at HL? HL has a max FPS of 99.9 fps because it's hardcoded in the engine and with my GF DDR @ 1024/768 its at 99.9 FPS all the time. Your CS installation must be screwed up because you should not be getting low performance.

that's messed up. my brother plays cs online with a p2 350@466 and a rage fury maxx with no slowdown at all. must be directx or your installation. i wouldn't go plunking all that money just yet.

I had a Asus V6800 Pure Geforce 32mb DDR and it ran CS@ a constant 70FPS@1024x768 32bit color. Your system if funked somewhere its not the card.

Install the new 12.41(or is it 12.40?) drivers as they where what I was useing also reinstall CS. Also run it in Opengl always as Geforce was always the best card(IMHO) for Opengl games.

If all else fails install GLsetup from www.glsetup.com as it will install the propper opengl files for your card.

Hey man I think youre vid card is fine, but you have something setup wrong.

It looks as if maby sometyhing to do with your eAGP buss speed.
FInd out how to adjust the agp buss speed on youre Motherboard and set it a tad lower, or higher.

This may not be the problem but its worth a shot.
Also try these.

Different motherboard drivers,
different vid card drivers,
different resolutions in game,
If you have a via chipset make sure you install the via 4 in 1 drivers www.viahardware.com

Email me if youre stil havin troubles man, I got a fair bit of experiance getting geforce2 cards to work properly as I had alot of trouble with mine when I first got it.
