Which card rules this price range? I will be buying in about a week or two. I know the 4770 is coming but I'm unimpressed as I want that 5-7% it loses to the 4850. I am also open to the nVidia side of things, but know less about it.

Cliffs:

Best card with the best performance for under $140?

EDIT: I play Crysis, Oblivion, and will be getting COD, or something similar. I don't play enough, nor am I that anal about super frame rates, and it will be mated with the system in the sig. My monitor is a 22" LCD @1680x1050.

Newegg sells an HD4870 512 for $134 AR, and an HD4850 for $99 AR. If you check the Hotdeals forum, there is an HD4830 for $72 AR.

I'd put myself on the"auto-notify" list for this one - $89.99 after the promo code and rebate is a heck of a deal on an HD 4850.

If you can't wait it seems the other HD 4850s and GTS 250s are more or less around the same price. Since their performance is about the same grab the best deal for the games you play (if they are mostly ATI or Nvidia favored).

Not a bad idea at all on that Sapphire. Yeah I think I will wait just a couple of weeks, and if I can stretch the budget I'll grab that good deal on a 4870, if not I'll see if that $99 4850 comes back in stock.

I think my next board will be a CrossFire. If I go quad, I think I'll sell this board + CPU to get a Ph2 955 and Crossfire board.

With graphics card prices like these I'd be nuts not to forgo the CPU power in favor of the cheaper GPU power. Can you say cheap Xfire?

I think AMD would be wise to make Xfire AMD-only.

That was my plan, my 2600XT has gone back, but the rebate expires on 4/30 and ETA on the card is 5/5

was just gonna recommend this.
I picked up about a month ago, still waiting on the rebate though.

great card, I have it clocked at 4890 speeds (850 core, 975 mem) via ATi's overdrive. I've pushed it to 875 core / 1000 mem before, but it was running a bit too hot for my tastes.

edit: oh, don't forget to check the combo for a free copy of stalker. I completely forgot to do this when I ordered :(

Overdrive on my system maxes out at 820MHz... is there some kind of add-on or something I can install? I'm quite happy with performance at 820MHz, but if there's more in it I'd like to find the ceiling.

I have Rivatuner, I just used OD since it was built in. He said that his OD allowed for 850MHz, so I was just curious about that. I suppose it probably makes more sense to just use Rivatuner and get rid of CCC vs. the opposite though.
