best car stereo amp?

back in the day ( 3 years or so back) rockford was the name but i have since heard the they arnt that great anymore anyone have any input on a car amp as well as component speakers? (pioneer?)

oh i forgot amp is for a 12" kenwood (im thinkin around 400 watt amp)
and the components are going to run off my deck (45w / channel)
