I don't really keep up with cars so I don't know where to look or what to look for. If you guys could point me in the right direction I'd be very greatful.

Edit: make that $2000-$3000 by the time I'll need to buy one.

a car that's been well taken care of. for that cheap the badge on the front almost does not matter.

coupe or sedan. As for mileage...depends on the car. Low enough to know it'll last me 50-80K miles if needed without any major problems i guess.

Hahaha... I don't know if you would seriously be interested in my car. It is a 94, but it has been FANATICALLY maintained under the hood. It was MY car and the b/f (a mechanic who adores me) put my having a safe, reliable, well kept car at the top of his list.

But it is not a flashy car for a young whippersnapper to show off and impress the girls with. 😉

It is a 4 door, 5 speed hatchback. Dependable transportation.

All early-mid 90's ford escorts are horrible.

Since my brother is never gonna use it, I will sell you my old aerostar for 400 bucks if you wanna come down here and get it.

1987 Honda Accord LXi. My first car, and I still drive it. 5sp manual. Great on gas. Currently has over 228,000 miles. Just recently replaced the alternator. Probably the only issue I have had, unless you count changing the clutch.

Got the car for $300.

That is exactly what the b/f said when he first saw my car. His sister had an early 90's escort and he thought it was crap.

But to be honest... i also have a 91 LX 2door hatchback and it is one of the best cars i have ever owned. small, zippy, reliable with kick ass air conditioning and heating.

the b/f thinks the 94 is a good little car. easy to work on, reliable and cheap on parts.

Basically any Toyota(tercel, camry, corolla,Celica,MR2,Previa)/Small Honda(civic, accord) will fit the bill. A Civic would be the easiest to find, but a good Prelude or Celica would be immesurably more fun to drive.

I had a 12 year old camry(150k miles), before that I ahd a 11 year old tercel(130k miles. Now I have a 5 year old Camry(46k miles), before the camry I had a a 6 year old MR2(50k miles) and 10 year old Lexus SC400(120kmiles). so I am biased to toyota.

A Civic/corolla/camry will be reasy to drive, easy on gas and easy on matinence. a american car can have the same traits, but you have to look at matinence more closely for those. If it's a well amtained escort or cavilier, it should last fine ,but remember the matinence evenmore with the domestic cars.
