Best car in this class that I'm looking into ... your opinion ?

Skoorb, I was hoping for more info than that .... 🙁

I love the look, and understand that it has good performance....

Maybe you have some other info ?

Point the way ....

The Crossfire has been criticized for being underpowered.

Based on your criteria, I'd suggest you drive the S2000, G35 Coupe, GTO, Golf R32, Crossfire when it gets the new motor, 330ci, Audi TT and RX-8. Damn you are going to have fun picking this car out.

EDIT: I never thought I'd say this, but if I was in your shoes, I might just go with the S2000.

Though it is a 4 door, but how about a Subaru WRX STi

Good choice ... I'm a Subaru lover already, so I must go drive one of those.

My only gripe is the non-luxury interior, just like the Impeza they are built apon.

I'm replacing an old Legacy... so I'm sold on the low maintenence and the AWD.

I was hoping thy would come out with leather & HP ... not just HP and the same plain old interior. 🙁

Wait for the new Legacy to come out sometime in 2004. Your issues will be addressed 🙂

I think it about friggin time ...

I want WRX Sti performance, in a Luxury and Leather 2 door ... 🙂

I intend to test drive one of these.

350hp, 365lb-ft of torque with a 6 speed manual and RWD on a chassis the size of a Honda.....I am so there .
Dyno @ Wheels <--- now thats what a torque curve should look like 😛

I also heard rumors of a "Judge" return too.

Yeah the new GTO looks promising. It's got a nice interior, but the exterior needs to be changed. As it stands, it looks like any other Pontiac grand prix/am.

So what? The original GTO looked exactly like every other Pontiac. You want it to look like a Corvette or something?

Go test drive a BMW 330Ci or maybe the new perfomance package coupe, I've driven a couple and they are simply fantastic. I heard the Crossfire's are selling at a $6k discount below invoice!

Maybe he meant the E36 M3s... i love those... more than the new ones... :heart:

You can get used E36 M3s in the teens. My friend just sold his 96 M3 w/50K miles for $13K to his mechanic.

Wow... i wouldve grabbed that in a heartbeat. :Q

I'd say the 05 Lotus Elise. Blazing fast, and incredible handling. As to why I like mine, you'll have to wait for the mid 04 delivery date for that.

could u get a lotus elise 111s for 40k?

No, the latest version, the one for the North American Market:

From Dan at EliseTalk:

On sale "late May 2004"

MSRP $39,985

Touring Pack $1,350
* full leather seating w/perforated trim
* electric windows
* upgraded Blaupunkt stereo w/MP3 player
* interior stowage net
* double insulated (thermal & sound) soft top
* additional sound deadening
* "enhanced" full carpet set

Sports Pack $2,480
* larger, lightweight forged aluminum alloy wheels
* track-tuned Lotus Sports suspension
* adjustable ride height
* Elise-specific Yokohama A048LTS tires

body-color hardtop $1,475

3-yr/36,000 mile warranty

Lotus-tuned Toyota 2ZZ-GE 1.8L 4cyl 16-valve w/VVTL-i
all-aluminum Toyota C64 six-speed manual gearbox
190 hp @ 7800 rpm (> 100 hp/liter)
138 lb ft @ 6800 rpm

4-wheel independent suspension
Eibach coil springs
Bilstein monotube gas shock absorbers
175/55R16, 225/45R17 Yokohama Advan Neova AD07 LTS tires (designed specifically for the Elise)

AP Racing twin-piston aluminum front brake calipers
Brembo single-piston rear brake calipers
ABS

reflectors attached to wheel well edges (not easily removed--holes in body)
twin exhaust pipes that extend out of the diffuser
silver "LOTUS" letters on rear exterior instead of round yellow/green badge

composite sport seats
dual airbags, including the world's most compact driver's side airbag
extruded aluminum pedals

0-60 mph in 4.9 sec
top speed "almost" 150 mph
> 30 mpg

1,975 lbs, including standard A/C, ABS, power windows, & dual airbags

body made from closed mold composite material that are thinner and lighter than hand-laid glass fiber

500,000 miles of testing on 2 continents

more than 17,000 Elises produced to-date, by far the best selling Lotus ever

I'm leaning towards the touring package (since, surprisingly, the electric windows are supposed to be lighter and more solid than the manual). I'll probably spring for the sports package too, since I'm probably not going to be doing enough serious track time to spring for external reservoir Penskes or Moutons. The forged alloy wheels are supposed to be really light, and the tires are extremely aggressive too:

Sports Package tires & wheels

Sports Package Tires & Wheels, plus adjustable sway bar

The wait is killing me.

The "new" GTO even though I think it is overpriced at about 33k.

Fits all of your criteria and the LS1 will bring a smile to your face every time you punch it and shift it well. Dont let the Foreigh car snobs turn your head.

I Should Know. LS1 but not a GTO

EDIT: I lke the looks of the Crossfire but not its present engines. Also Chrysler "Ergonmics" arent for everyone. These may have changed with the newer German inspired models but I dont know.

surprise no one suggested this. how about a MB CLK320 coupe? very sweet interior like you want, 2 door, great all around performance. you would probably be able to find one for sub 40k (used maybe). or a corvette (bad interior though everything else is great).

i really like the bmw z4 though. it looks good.

Nevermind on the Elise if you want it in mid 04. Entire run has been sold out for the year, and into 05.
