Current iPhone 5 owner up for an upgrade. Will also be having a new baby joining us soon and may drop carrying around a dslr. What's the best camera on a phone out there for tmobile? I thought it would be a no brainer with a lumia but indoor shots on the 5s seem better to my eyes. Any tiger options?

I'd likely look at the iPhone 5s given your existing ownership, although you may not see a huge benefit coming from the 5.

You face a similar problem with T-Mobile's other phones, for that matter. The LG G2 does a good job, but you won't be blown away by it coming from an iPhone 5. At least until the Galaxy S5 hits, anything Samsung makes will generally be inferior to your iPhone. And the Xperia Z1S has a nice camera, but it's both already somewhat obsolete and saddled with a lacklustre display. I'd suggest holding out until we see the 2014 smartphones reach the market in earnest, and you may want to see what the 2014 iPhone has to offer... my guess is that it drops around September, maaaaybe earlier this year.

ur current iphone 5 will most likely be a great camera for the little one. And bust out the DSLR for the events.

I dont have a little one but my friends do, when they post up videos they look great. Just always BACK UP THE PHOTOS! Many have lost their phone or broke it, memories are gone.... Well unless its all uploaded on to FB.

Well, I'm up for an upgrade on March 17th (tmobile jump, so I can upgrade to the 6 whenever that happens).. Any thoughts on waiting for the htc one m8? The camera tech on display seems interesting, at least for some pretty shallow DOF pictures.

I wouldn't upgrade to a 5S from the 5 for the camera. Although burst mode is pretty useful for taking a fuckton of pictures of something not exactly standing still but sometimes is. Don't know if it's a huge upgrade factor though. And the two-tone LED flash is nice. And the better low light performance.

The iPhone 5S seems to do better in low light where there is some nearby light source. The Lumia 925 seems to do better as the light source gets further away.

Change the lighting condition up at the top to low light (bulb icon), then choose your phones in the boxes below. Then drag the square in the bigger picture to get a comparison of each cameras shot side by side. Don't change one to the Lumia 1020, because then you'll just be depressed.

The iPhone 5s, running Apple’s fresh iOS 7, is an excellent phone with a very good camera. Image quality under most conditions is among the top of the class of “conventional” smartphone camera units: you have to look to the Nokia Lumia 1020 to find something that’s hands-down better across the board, though in good light the best 13-megapixel sensors do capture more detail.

The camera app is supremely easy to use, and the 5s’ powerful processing makes for class-leading burst speed and excellent responsiveness. Users looking to upgrade from older iPhones shouldn’t be disappointed. That said, there’s nothing in the 5s that changes the fundamental balance of power in the mobile photography world: users committed to other OSes won’t necessarily see a reason to switch.

MS Build conference is next month, everyone thinking Nokia will be announcing new phones there, so might have more options soon.

Looks like waiting it is. Anyone know if HTC usually ships soon after launch (which is scheduled for the 25th), or do they release the following quarter like Samsung seems to do
