Hey guys, we are looking for a camcorder for around $400 for our computer club. The quality of the image is the most important thing to us. We can flow with whatever storage format the camera uses but would prefer something solid state, such as SDHC cards. Don't really prefer DVD's as we do rapid video shoots and usually want to be able to delete a certain clip immediately.
Image stabilization is certainly a plus. The camera will be used to look at computer parts sometimes close up so image stabilization combined with a capable, accurate focus is of utmost concern for us. Optical zoom is of course far preferred to be as high as possible. Digital Zoom will *never* be used, due to the face that while looking at small computer pieces we do not need the noise introduced in digital zoom. Night shots we would like to be decent, but will rarely if ever be done so its not *that* important.
File transfer can use either USB or Firewire. Direct video outputs are *not* importnant. Our video will *always* go onto a computer first.
If you guys need to know anything else then please just ask. Any good recommendations?
