best cable modem? (well something cheap?)

looking for a new cable modem, i have a feeling the one i have now is about done with.. 🙁

speeds are just so slow..

any ideas?

you sure its the modem?

 

Anything that's DOCSIS compliant should be fine. However, cable modems don't often just 'slow down.' Sounds like it's a problem with your provider.

From what I've read the Toshiba and Motorola modems are the best.

Actually, they can just "slow down". My Motorola surfboard started to get all messed up and the RR tech said they had been having a lot of problems with them/ He gave me a new Ambit modem and its great.Speeds have increased big time.

ya my MD guy said that my range is way to high, and something else is very high...

i think its the modem..

I had a US Robotics CMX that went south after about 18 months. My provider replaced it with a Motorola Surfboad 4200 and my speeds jumped up from 700K/sec to around 1000K/sec. My ISP has in the past offered the CMX, the US Robotics Sharkfin, the Surfboard 4100 and the Surfboard 4200. The people with the 4200 get the highest speeds and seem to have the fewest problems.
