Best Buy's return policy?

OK, here's the deal:

saw the deal on the Plextor P708A 8x DVD burner through Dell, final cost $170 bucks.
Ordered it through Dell on Saturday night. Monday, their website showed item back-ordered, no delivery estimate. Called their customer rep, was told no ETA in sight, maybe after the 31st.
Cancelled the order. Purchased the drive from Best Buy, as my girlfriend was jonesin for this burner ( so was I 🙂 )
This morning, got a ship notification from Dell, Air Express will be delivering today!
SO, if I accept this drive from Dell, will Best Buy accept the original drive back? ( we are talking almost a $70.00 difference in final cost here). What should I tell them the return reason is?

Did you open it? I returned a sound card that worked and just told them I didn't want it anymore. But I returned it the next day. They didn't even look at it. If I wanted, I could have kept the card and replaced it with a modem or whatever else I had lying around.

yup, opened and installed it, but since I have drive rails, I know the case of the drive won't have any scratches on it. The seal on the box had to be cut to open it, but it was purchased yesterday, and I have everything originally included.
I was thinking of saying " I bought this for my 8o year old Dad, but he has no clue how to use it".

15% restockinig fee may apply

If indicated at time of purchase and on receipt!

15% restocking on the back on the reciept.

Doesn't matter what your "reason" is. Policy is policy. Just hope you get a nice CSR (and that there is no manager nearby.)

just dug out the receipt: 15% fee only applies to notebooks, camcorders, (unless defective), or any item missing original packing materials.

No restocking fee required. I've never paid one in my life with any store. Just tell them you couldn't get it to work and you want your money back.

They should take it back and give you a full refund if it was purchased recently.

They should in theory. But my experience with best buy is it will be a hassle. I guess if it is within 15 days and unopened he shold be okay.

I returned an open Radeon 9600 Pro to BB about a month ago. I almost forgot to put in the HL2 coupon, but they dind't even check for it. It went fine.
