Best Buy's new "helpful" phone reps

Has anyone called a Best Buy lately to check stock on something? They've revamped their system, so no instead of transferring you to a specific department all product availability calls are routed to one person/group of people. This SHOULD work better, but instead they've taken the opportunity to add new "features" to the process to make your life even more miserable. So now once you tell them what item you want to check availibility for, they will begin "bringing it up on the computer". Now, when you give someone a specific item number, this should take seconds for even the most poorly set up inventory system, but now it interestingly takes much longer. So you wait, listening to them type what is the equivalent of about 1000 words on the keyboard. And once they "have the information", instead of just giving it to you, they want to "ask you a few questions to help better serve you". These questions amount to your name, phone number, e-mail address, and other personal information. They won't go any further until you at least give them your first name. Yesterday I called about an item and had the number. After 5 minutes of clicky-clicky, he asked me if he could get my information, I politely said no. After he heard that response, I was put on hold while he "finished checking the computer" for TEN MINUTES. I was basing a trip out of town on whether they had this item or not, so I waited. He came back on and said "it's just going to be another minute or two while I pull this up". Bull$#!*. So in other words, since I refused to give them my personal information, they jerked me around for 15 minutes. Sorry Best Buy, but this is not the way to win any loyalty.

I hate CompUSA's system. They route you to a place that does inventory checks for their entire franchise. You tell them what store and they tell you if that store has it in stock. O...k... You get there and you find out that the computer inventory lied. There is NO WAY it seems to get an actual level 1 check of a product's availability.

Did Best Buy try and sell you an extended service plan while you were on the phone waiting with them?? -- Ooops ... I shouldn't give them any ideas. 🙁 🙁

Lol at least they are trying to do something. I can't even get through to a Comp USA to find out if they have any items in stock. it's ridiculous.

Well radio shack has a good inventory system especially if u know the SKU. Takes 2 seconds to put it in the computer and check the stock and even check the whole district.

Dude, what are you talking about?
PSP's are great!
I had 2 viewsonic 19" montiors blow on me over the summertime, they replaced both, finally I told them I wanted a different monitor, they hooked me up with a samsung 955DF because I was having so much trouble.

I buy those service plans on everything!

The same thing happened to me.
First time I gave some information and got the information I wanted.
Next time I said No and was Jerked around.

I asked him why I was jerked around this time and not the first time. No answer. So I said "This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Get lost and Good Bye!"

The last time I called BB was two weeks ago. I called three different BB's looking for an item. The first two places kept me on hold for 10 minutes each, before I even got to someone human. The third place actually answered within two minutes. None of the stores had the item in stock.

Home Depot's phone system is the best. and I mean that. You call and you get someone instantly. There are usually 2 people who man the phones and transfer the calls to portable phones that every manager and pept head carry at all times. These phones can also handle 3 lines @ once so you can handle multiple calls at once.

Totaly Awesome! ( from a customers point of view). from the inside it is a PITA because the phone rings when you are in the middle of something. We were required to answer the phone if it rang, and that was insulting to the customer who was tryng to decide on a $3000 front door while taking to you.

But the customers who called were usually pretty damn happy.

Best Buy blows, period. Me and my friends came in from the cold after waiting for my dad to pick us up three times in their store and they came up to us asking all these questions and then they said point blank that they thought we were trying to shoplift. What fags.
