Best Buy?

Well I applied for Best Buy. My town is finally getting one.

I submitted the application Sunday and went in to the Best Buy office to see why they hadn't contacted me yet, because I have EXTENSIVE technology (computer) experience. I've worked with them all my life. Anyways, I went in today and the lady couldn't find me on the application computer. I told her my social security number and she said I had failed the customer relations part of the application. She then proceeded to tell me that I should look at each question (about 50 total) and answer them as good as I could.

When I originally took the application online, it said that I should go through the answers as quickly as possible. The lady kind of contradicted that. So I left in total anger. So now I must resubmit my application and hope they call me, I guess.

The fact that I applied for service rep kind of makes me think. I mean, I don't think a person who works behind a desk fixing peecees has to have any substantial sales/customer relations.

Sorry if this is all a vent, but I really don't understand the point of an application. Sure it tells where you've worked before, but it doesn't exactly tell about YOU. That customer relations part of the deal was a load of crap, which I guess I can't answer honestly because they don't like people that are honest. So this go-around, I'll lie and put all the "nice" things.

Haha, yes, questions like that. But heck no, I don't make people angry!!

If you left in total anger becuase someone at Best Buy told you something contradictory, you probably shouldn't be working at any job where you have to deal with people.

If you got that angry when someone who knows what they're talking about told you something bad, imagine how angry you'll get when dealing with those idiot customers.

Methinks the computer application judged you correctly. 😱

If you answered the questions like you answered his, I can understand why you failed.

Re-read what he said.

No sir, maybe you should re-read. I said I don't make people angry.. That means no to his question.

Yeah, apparently the computer tossed mine out before they could even read it. Oh well.
And as for the total anger part, well I left in anger thinking they didn't even take the time to read it. Got home and talked over with the parents, who suggested the same thing to me (about the computer tossing it)

I think you should not get the job because you wrote "peecees".

Hehe.. Yep!

Good god. You did it again.

He said: Do people make you angry?
You said: I don't make people angry.

Wow. So unhappy today that I can't even read straight. Thanks for straightening me up.

what kinds of questions are on the part you failed?

If I could somehow get to that website, I'd post 'em here. But I can't seem to get into their job application site anymore. Probably because they don't like me. 😀

I'm sorry that you didn't pass, but I'm sure they put a lot of effort in developing those questionnaires. If you answered it truthfully and it determined that you can't deal with people (by their standards), why be upset at them? Your technical skills will probably not be exercised in any way in that position anyhow. Try Fry's 🙂

I guess I'm not a people person. As much as I interact with everyone at school, I just don't see how I failed it.

If we had a Fry's, I'd apply there in an instant. It's my favorite electronics store. (have to drive to Dallas to visit though!)

Welcome to Life.... Enjoy your stay

I wouldn't say Best Buy is the best place to work anyways. I was in your same position. I still currently work at Best Buy...PM me if you want suggestions.

she said I had failed the customer relations part of the application
The way I see it, most BB employees must have failed that part of the application because most of them have no skills in dealing with customers what-so-ever.

the CC and BB have identicle applications.

I applied for warehouse guy and had to do all that nonsense. Everyone deals with customers at some point, so they want to make sure everyone knows how to lie on the test.
