The NY Times article was intended to ignite a firestorm among careful shoppers on the Internet, with all of us propagating their message and swearing never to go back to Best Buy! We are the very "devils" they intended to purge, and our rants and raves help them achieve their desired effect of alienating us!
Our best strategy is dispassionately to buy from them when full use of all their policies yields the best deal and go elsewhere when someone else has a better deal. Simple.
