The thing was opened up supposedly by Geek Squad. This is their way of saying "It was never returned".

Thing has scratches all over it and the on and off switch looks like it is going to fall off.

I showed the manager and he was basically saying "we did you a favor" "I can't give you 10% off the price because in a way you are getting a deal. You didn't even accept the geek squad packages we offer"

Best Buy = SCAM

I have 15 days to return it without a restocking fee.

Showed my dad (this is for him) he said return it at once. Going back tomorrow.

So if they're willing to give you a full refund, what's the problem?

I figured out it was opened when I went home. For all I know there could have been a rock in the box.

Always check to see if your product is opened or not if you buy from Best Buy.

Contact Corporate and raise a stink to see what you can get out of them.

And in the future, never leave BB without opening up what you just bought to make sure it is what it's supposed to be.

My mom's laptop was opened and had the geek squad "optimizations" performed on it, restore CDs made, etc. I gave the sales guy two choices - Either we don't buy it, or they give it to us free since we never asked for it. "Last one left" my ass. I also re-opened it instore and made sure it was still in perfect condition (It was).

I bet BB didn't offer a refund either stating that they were stealing the phone.

I avoid BB when ever possible but when I absolutely have to go there I take it to the checkout and before I hand them my credit card I open the box and check the product. It's pretty sad that I have to check my purchase before I pay for it.

My dad bought a hard drive from Best Buy and it was swapped out for a completely different drive (nonfunctioning of course). I was so surprised that he was able to get a refund on it.

Slight change of topic: Does BB still use a hoax website in their store? Or did they go to court over that issue already?

Do people ever not do this? I always check the packaging of something I'm going to buy to make sure it's intact/in good shape. That has nothing to do with Best Buy in and of itself, it should be pretty standard consumer practice, no? I've always had great luck with BB's price matching/customer service. shrug.

It's payback for you trying to defraud Priceline here and I'm liking it.
