It happens to me all the time at Fry's because I generally wear a white dress shirt, a tie and dark slacks for work.

It is fun to help people. I imagine it would be slightly amusing to give bad advice and imagine a large number of irate people return to the store later.

I'm not sure how that's possible. I've never seen ANYONE helping customers in Fry's...People wander in...find what they're looking for, (might take minutes, might take days) go to the check out, pay and leave...

I think I still have one or two Newegg bumper stickers that they've sent me in my "thank you gift" boxes over the years...Maybe I should go plaster them on the local Geek Squad bugs...:p

We've seen this with Apple. They will patent or trademark things that were clearly used and invented before but because they were granted the patent or trademark, it's theirs and they sue people over it.

Remember when the iphone was just released?

http://news.cnet.com/2100-1041_3-6161233.html

I was hoping for Cisco to crush apple the same way apple did to so many other companies using the 'i' prefix in their own products, sometimes way before apple even started the imac.

It would've been sweet if Cisco after forcing apple to change the name of the iphone turned around and leased the name rights to Google, or Nokia or anyone else who'd compete with apple.

I can see it now. The cries of the Smug, Pretentious, Douchebags when you can buy a samsung or LG iphone and not one from apple.

I don't know much about this case, but I feel the US should declare war on best buy and immediately launch ICBMs at the company's headquarters.

To ensure low cost in operation they will hire part-time jobs for the majority of the store. People who just need a paycheck. Do not expect "expert" opinions when you need help choosing the best value.

Like Fry's do your homework first by checking online for reviews (like Newegg) before going in.

Even though people here in AT is knowledgeable, the rest of the consumer public are almost entirely dependent on the "recommendations" of the blue shirt. This is where they make their profit.

This is excellent publicity for Newegg. Fuck BestBuy!

Yeah i think it was poor business strategy to sue them. They should re-strategize and execute their business better. Now they look like sore losers AND people are more aware of their deficiencies.

i had a guy once read me the back of a game at best buy and say i should buy it because it said it had improved graphics

I don't know why Newegg even started running TV ads. Most people are already aware of it's existence.

The more I think about it, the more I love that commercial.

It is so true. The employees at Best Buy (and Fry's, etc.) will literally read the tags to you when you ask them a question. I rather they just tell me they don't know, but will try to find someone who does (but, then again, there is no employees who do).

I can read the damn tags.

And don't get me started about when I have done my homework beforehand and just need one minor technical question answered.

I hate to say it but high end audio/video is going to die with the internet. People here think high end audio is the expensive stuff from Best Buy.
