I have a 2 year old Laser Jet 1200 printer that has been great the last two years. I bought it with a 3 year PSP from Best Buy and recently the unit has started to feed sheets improperly and is starting to break down. I want to bring it in to Best Buy and have them repair it but I'm convinced they are going to test it, see that it prints a single page (even though during long jobs it starts misfeeding) and tell me there's nothing they can do about it.

Does anyone have expierence with getting items repaired under the Best Buy PSP's??? Do I have any leverage if they come back to me and say there's nothing wrong and I think there is?

All I can say is that I've never had a good experience with an extended warranty. Once, I had a laptop that I bought at Circuit City, and foolishly bought the PSP. About 2 years into the 3, the locking mechanism that held the CD-ROM/battery in place broke, so I took it in. After keeping it for two weeks, it was returned to me, not repaired. They claimed that the damage was "customer inflicted" and they wouldn't cover any damage that I had "intentionally" caused. Of course, talking to managers/etc did no good, because "how are they supposed to know that I didn't just break it so I could get a new one?" In other words, I got ripped. I haven't bought a PSP since.

I'm not sure but I think that your model may have been included in the series of printers with faulty feed mechanisms. I know for sure that the 1100 models had that problem; in any case HP offers a free fix for it and should be orderable from their site.

We have about 10 of those 1200s at work, real pieces of crap. Constant trouble with them. Have a 10 year old 4Si with a million and some prints and still runs perfect. These 1200s aren't given heavy work and they are nothing but trouble.

That's good info...I have a POS 1100 and was about ready to junk it, just ordered the free kit so maybe I can get another year out of the thing. :)
