This weeks Best Buy ad features "Talladega Nights" disc which is no longer being packaged by Sony. I got $24.95 credit towards Fifth Element. Guy right in front of me got $24.95 taken off his PS3 60gp sale.

Also, I returned my 20GB bought on 11/22 with absolutely 0 hassle, $ went right back to CC.

IMHO..PS3 is not a bad deal at $600 for what you get..problem is the $600..is just alot

I would wait till next year when there are more game...and probalby some bundle discounts...just too new

Really shame Sony and MS did not pick the same High Def std....I have no idea if Blu-Ray or HD-DVD will win

Neither will, don't worry.

The market is not ready for it, so the next generation will be the winner.

you think the next gen will win?

What about the players I've been reading about that are being developed to play both formats?

What next generation? The only other standard AFAIK is some Chinese one. Apparently they decided to corner their own market with their own high definition standard.

Yeah, this isn't going to be another VHS vs BetaMax now that dual formats are rearing their heads already.

Luckily, the actual medium is so similar in this case that I think both formats will prevail, as opposed to the Betamax issue where two entirely different machines were necessity for their era.

Another thing to consider is that this run with Sony is a bit different now that they control so many movie studios. They're in a better position to cram the format into everyone's living rooms.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on the PS3 :D

You must feel stupid for hanging onto it when you could have made a ton of money.

exactly... Sony has lined up 8 of the 9 movie studios. Hd-dvd came out first and they only have 3 of 9.. Pretty obvious to me who has lost..

If you get a sony credit card you can get $150 free. Add that to the 2% or 3% on the BB rewards card and you get a little better deal. Plus to get sony rewards points 3 points for every dollar.

If you happen to live close to a sony style store, you can get double points for every dollar spent until jan 4th. Thats 10 to 1. The points redeem to $.01 each so its 10% off..

Yes, as I posted at the top, "your mileage may vary" depending on who you talk to. I would check Best Buy.com first and search for Talladega Nights to make sure they don't have any in stock.

Not stupid so much as a learning experience. I thought if I held on to it closer to Christmas I could sell it for more money, but I was wrong. Shrug. It cost me no money, I never put it on eBay so I didn' t have to pay them anything...and I returned it for 100% credit. If I'd put it on eBay 3 times and had to pay 3 fees, perhaps.

But right now I'm enjoying the hell out of Bully and Resistance. And it's yet another cool toy :)

I agree. It's like someone offering you a Ferrari for $15,000. Sure, it's a good deal, but it's still a heck of a lot of money for a luxury item.

Ummm... its NOTHING like someone offering you a Ferrarri for $15,000 :)

Maybe a better analogy would be, its like someone offering you the best video card on the market for 600$.

Umm no. The GPU in the PS3 is about as powerful as a 7900GTX.

You can find Ferrari's for that price, but they've probably been in a high speed crash...
