So $90 off any stick of memory... That just doesn't seem right. $20 off any hard drive would be nice if it can be stacked with rebates.

Neither the email nor the coupon list any restrictioons on the hard drive purchase, so you should be able to use it with rebates. This week Best Buy has the Western Digital 160 GB for $39.99 AR (5524343). $19.99 after the coupon would be MUCH better!

The email does say that advertised memory is excluded, but the coupon doesn't mention that.

The Linksys (FAR) rebate from Best buy says - if any type of Price match is done the rebate will be rejected. I wonder if this coupon could be called a "price match of any type". I ordered this online for pickup in store and was planning to pick it up today. Would love to be able to use this coupon though it might not be worth the hassle - the high price (before rebate) results in unnecessary high tax)

If I remember from past purchases, ordering online for in-store pickup requires paying for the item when you order, so using the coupon when you pick it up might make them generate one of the price match type receipts and you could be SOL. If they have the item in stock in the store when you arrive, you could buy it with the coupon and not pick up the ordered one and they should cancel your order and refund the money to your credit card after 8 days. I never tried that, so don't know if it works well. Good luck!

Pay with any secure credit card, (Visa Master Card, AMEX etc.), keep a copy of everything you submitted, and a copy of the cupon used. You wont have a problem if they wont honor the rebate. Simply call your CC company, tell them that BB didint honor the terms of the rebate, they will ask you a few ??, may ask you to fax the copies you have, and within a few weeks, they will credit you the entire charge. It happened to me twice, so it was a bit more of a hassle, (not by much), but in the end, I got a 250gb HD, and a CPU a while back for FREE, because the Credit Card company will only dispute the entire charge on your behalf, niot a partial amount. AMEX is the easiest to deal with with the dispute process, but they are all pretty consumer friendly. Hoep this helps.

Thats not true, at BB if you order online for pick up, and use your CC, your CC isnt charged until pick-up, they have the ability in-store to cancel the online order, and just ring you up in store.

Any harddrive? Does that include external (I'm guessing no)? I have some BB gift certificates to burn and need an external drive. I would probably be better off selling them and buying online.

"your CC isnt charged until pick-up"
Well, could be, but that's not what their site says and that's not what their customer service people say. When you receive the 2nd email (the one that says your item is available for pickup), that is when they charge your card, according to them.

"they have the ability in-store to cancel the online order, and just ring you up in store."
That would be the best way to go, then.

Don't know why it wouldn't be good on externals, but then again, it is BB. Both the email and the coupon read alike for this one "any hard drive for your PC."

We had called a manager we personally know, he said he would not use this coupon on rebate item (especially best buy's own rebate item). Some may think credit card companies will be on your side, even so, do you want this thing hanging over your head? Read the fine fine print on your rebate sheet, any unclear wording, it is yours to loose.

here's what I woud try:

purchase it without the coupon, then go over to the CS desk and have them do a rebuy with the coupon

The use of a Best Buy coupon at the time of purchase cannot be considered a "price match". I think they would run into trouble if they tried denying rebates because people used their own store coupons.

I'm pretty sure I've used the 10% off coupons they send in the mail to buy things that also had rebates and I didn't get any rejected.

This is exactly what I did after the cashier wouldn't honor the coupon.

It took a few minutes for the CS rep to figure it all out, but she was very helpful.

Best customer service I've had awhile actually

$26.99 out the door after rebate for the WD 160gb HDD.

A friend of my famileys who knows nothing about computers bought ram for her computer (ddr133) OLD COMPUTER ALERT. She had best buy help her pick out the right ram she needed for her computer and only bought a 256mb for $78. Rip off #1. THEN they told her they would install it for her for AN ADDITIONAL $175 DOLLARS. One stick of ram........... $175 install. Best buy is the biggest pos ever to grace the earth. After i had found out all this because she asked me if i knew how to install ram and would help her, I had her take her 256mb stick back to best buy, and had her buy a 512mb stick for $40 from newegg, and then continued to show her the 30seconds it takes to actually install it.

So it might be a $90 cupon off the ram, but say a stick of ram from them is @ $100, install is going to be another 150+ ....... in the end its not worth it being screwged,

a memory install is $30. If they come to your house to do an install it would definitely be in the $100+ range, but the in store memory install is $30. And no, you don't have to let them install it. They just have to ring out the memory on the same ticket as the RAM install sku, along with the coupon
