I went to BestBuy at lunch right now to finally pick up my free NFL Fever 2002 that was supposed to come with my xbox like a month ago. So anyway, they actually had it and didn't put up a fight when I went to the customer service desk to take it home. So the manager at the desk asks me why I didn't get the extended warranty. I said I just don't think I'll need it. Then she went into her whole speach about why I'll die without it. After that I told her that I'm not going to get it because I might open up my xbox and mess with it. Then she came out with "That will only void the manufacturers warranty, ours will still be good." I was stunned at that lie. I didn't feel like messing with her or anything so I just said no thanks again and left.

They will say anything to sell those damn things! I'm so glad that I don't have any more gift certificates or anything for that store so I'm not forced to buy stuff from there anymore.
 
Uh......... I don't knowabout Best Buys Extended warranty but when I worked at EB the extended warranty covered everything. I had a customer's kid drop a GBA in the toilet and we replaced it. I had another customer drop his PS2 while bringing it to a party at another persons house (the PS2 would not read) and we replaced it.

On a side note I bought a home instal ADSL kit from Future Shop (in Canada but owned by Best Buy) and I bought the 2 year extended warranty for $20 or something like that ............ 13 months down the line the modem died and I got a replacement.

I'm going to get an extendend warranty and drop my XBOX out of a plane to see what it looks like when it's smashed.

Pics will be provided. And then I'll return it for a new one.
 
I've had people bring back modded PS1 & PS2's no problem. How is Best Buy going to know you modded it? Is there a security tag on the box that will tell if you opened it? At EB....... you got a problem & an extended warranty............. then it gets replaced. The only thing they check is the serial numbers of the returned machine & the warranty match.

ah crap, i bought the 2 year deal on my logitechs z560s. logitech offers a 2 year manufactures warranty, so i asked the lady what does hers cover that logitech wont. She told me i can take the speakers in any time if they were broken and swap them out with new ones or call up some # and get a voucher for my money back. This how it works or was i had?

We had one guy who's ex-friend throw it out onto the road where it got smashed but a car 😀

The only thing the warranty did not cover was fire & theft.

You get only a portion of your money back I'd guess, like if you pay $40 for a 4 year plan, then decide after a year you don't want it, you get back $30.

Bestbuy will lie about just about anything to sell those ESPs. Anytime I buy something, I just assume whatever they say will be a lie and tell them no. The employees have to sell X amounts of ESPs, otherwise they get in trouble (or at least they did)
