Best Buy Insignia Computer Speaker Sales

i couldnt resist buying up a few different models. the prices are better then what you see online, even if just a little. best buy pickup in store is a real easy service to use too.

so some first hand reviews, from best to worst in terms of overall sound quality only-

Insignia™ - 2.1 Speaker System (3-Piece) - Black

for $20, these-are-awesome. they sound by far the best out of all these sets i bought. surprisingly good bass, great treble and plenty of mid. if you have a regular to small bedroom, these will fill it with good tunes. and for a basic set of pc speakers, they would be great for gaming. im not even sure what to list as a con, they remind me of my old klipsch 2.0's with a little better bass but just a little less loud. if you like cheap, these actually are good enough to use for a bedroom stereo.

Insignia™ - USB Sound Bar

the best choice for a portable laptop speaker. excellent sound quality throughout the low, mid and high range. can get loud enough to watch tv shows in a decent sized room. worked great at the hotel the other night. the quality of construction is surprising, and it has a built-in usb soundcard so the pc you connect it to just needs a usb port. absolutely a steal for $10.

Insignia™ - 2.0 Stereo Computer Speaker System (2-Piece) - Black

somewhat lackluster. theyre priced right at $15, but thats the sale price unfortunately. they have nowhere near the bass the 2.1 setup has, and they dont sound nearly as good in the mid or treble ranges either. for $5 more, the 2.1 setup blows these away. these DO get a bit louder then the 2.1's, so they would be better for voice conferencing or the like. these would be excellent for general tv speakers. but if you are a music lover then there are better options then these. they have another set of 2.0's that are twice the price of these, but i would imagine they sound far better for music.

Insignia™ - Flat-Panel Portable Speakers (Pair)

neat design. they actually connect together face-to-face via magnets. so they are nicely portable. they have zero bass, or any low range at all. the do pump out loud vocals though, so they should be good as skype speakers or something, but since they use a headphone jack along with usb for power they arent the most convenient. the usb speakerbar is superior to these in every way sound quality wise. the difference is this comes with a DC 5v usb battery pack, so you can run the speakers off AAA batteries, or anything you want really. it seems well made and its compact. i plan on using it as a portable cellphone charger. honestly the $10 just for the battery converter is worth the price, the speakers are just a throw-in. i do wonder how efficient the speakers are though, i would imagine that is part of their design.

i do want to try the $30 (sale price) 2.0 speaker set. supposedly they have mylar tweets and portable. not sure if ill buy them though, i have enough speakers now!😛

update- i just ordered these off ebay as open box new, for $30 shipped.

ill be able to add to the reviews. its probably a good deal at the $49 bb sale price, but i couldnt resist saving another $20.

well i finally got it. it is still 29.99 in store, so you have to order online to get the 9.99 price.

the speakerbar is great! very high build quality, and its crazy how loud it gets on 500ma of power. this makes my netbook a real tv now, its perfect!

edited because of detail, but basically best buy screwed up and gave me the full sized home theater soundbar. i didnt man up to it, i felt lucky so i went with the opportunity. i havent opened it yet though! i did go to another store and got the laptop soundbar, which is a very good item it turns out.

Well it is made by them, so yes, it is. Thing about online orders is when they come in, the employee picks them and puts them to the side, so the employee picked the wrong one apparently. It is scanned more or less out of the system. Really stupid mistake to make...

I work there, so I know.

Is there a usb to 3.5mm jack adapter? hehe doubt it

AFAIK, TRS connectors are analog and USB is digital so no there isn't an adapter available.

im surprised by its quality. its built well, youll see that when you get it. sounds great too, its honestly probably a good deal at its full price... but for $10 i really would call it a hot deal.

ok morality police is here i see. i dont see how its theft... i placed an order and they gave me an item. i thought it was more funny then bad. and they still got $10 from me... the stupid thing probably only costs them $40, so im pretty sure they can afford a clearance price.

and i remember once i went to best buy and bought $20 worth of recordable cd's that not one actually worked. wasted my freakin time. this made up for it! the only reason i deleted the details on this thread was because i didnt want to be 'that guy' who got caught up by an internet forum... who knows though if they really wanted to they just have to look at the security tape of me walking out with it.

i just wish it was actually a quality speaker. from reviews i read online, it only costs $50 online for a reason- its just really not that great. especially for its size, they say it should sound a lot better then it does. im not sure what ill do with it. i havent even opened it, i think ill probably just trade it to some crackhead for some weed or something.

Look, I don't care that you took what was given and ran, but your justification is utterly retarded. How could it possibly be Best Buy's fault that the recordable CDs you bought were crap? Do you think there's a bunch of people assembling stuff in the back and that somehow they can affect the quality of their products? They're a RESELLER... they buy things from the source, and then you buy things from them. If you don't like the product, you blame the source not the store. I bought LA Noire from Gamestop, now is it their fault I don't really like the game? By your incredibly ignorant logic Gamestop should be ashamed of all the terrible games they put out, just like Best Buy should be ashamed of the quality of their disc... right?

Is there a reason to gloat publicly about getting something you didn't pay for? Bottom line is......you didn't pay for it.

did the game work though?

did the game work though?

doesn't matter, regardless of if the game worked or not it wouldn't be Gamestops fault if EA burned their game wrong... it may be GS' fault if they didn't exchange it and it WAS broken

So I have to ask, did you try returning your defective discs to best buy?

Yikes, this thread is getting out of hand quick. Simmer down people.
best buy should know to sell quality products
The majority of people don't want to pay for quality products, they want the cheapest shit they can get. That's what they get.
Is there a reason to gloat publicly about getting something you didn't pay for?
Hey he lucked out and got more than he paid for, and wanted to tell some people about how lucky he got. Big deal. He didn't steal anything, he gave them money, they gave him an item. If he had done some intentional trickery that would be different, but he didn't. And let's face it, this wasn't Goodwill. Anyone who's listened to a salesperson in the computer or home theater departments of Best Buy will know they do in fact use trickery to take money from people. Good for him I say.
