Ok just got back from Best Buy, got the hard drive, PNY CDRs, and the IBM PC Camera / Ivista See Me Now software. The rebate for the soft ware says that you need the " IBM product Registration Card" but there IS NO registration card in the IBM camera... I called Best Buy rebate center & they have no clue. Looks like the rebate is sent to Ivista and I'm calling them now.

Any one else have this problem or possible solution?

(Mods: please don't lock since many ppl on this forum probably have the the same problem.)

Update:
The rebate is sent to the software company (not IBM). There seems to be nobody at the software company right now. They have a rebate page here here I am guessing it will all be sorted out by Monday/Tuesday tops.
Lemme know if ppl have any success getting rebate at Best Buy on the spot!!

Cuz no one else is back yet ;)
man, it was crazy. I saw a butch of ppl, including myself grabbing only the software, but not the iCam. Guess everyone thought the cam is inside the box. By the time I realized that, none was left. Oh well...

Togez: me too! No registration card! I called the Best Buy rebate center and they said to go back to the store to see if a different package has the card. I think they are all sold out by now. I'll probably go back there and check anyhow. If none of them have the product registration card, I'll insist that they give me the rebate money on the spot! Have any other solution?

EDIT: Togez, turn on your Private Messaging. Also, I tried calling Inetcam and couldn't find a live person to talk to about rebates.

Anyone know what happened to the Brag and Moan thread? This should be in there, but since I don't see it I guess we can let it slide. I would definatly take it back to BB and ask for the rebate $$$ on the spot.

Yea, I went back to best buy and told them... they opened 4 other cams and no rebate cards in any... I was informed by their rebate center that any without the registration card WILL NOT BE HONORED. Don't take a letter on best buy letterhead unless you just want to whipe your a$$ of the $40 dollar rebate...

I decided not to give myself such a headache and returned the garbage

I got the camera this morning and when I got home I read this threat and decide to go back to BB. I talk with the CSR at the return counter and she told me to come back on Monday to get the Registration Card since the Rebate center is closed.
Well, I'll wait till Monday before I return this crap web cam.

I'll be interested in hearing the outcome of all this.

While I was standing in check out line, the girl behind me set the IBM camera on a nearby shelf. I asked her if she was resting her arm or if she didnt want it. She said I could have it.

When I got to the car, I started going thru all my receipts and realized I didnt get a rebate slip. I went back into the madhouse and a knowlegable customer told me it was a package deal with the software. It was to busy at Cust Service, so I'll sort it out with them next week.

I would like to get the software and rebate, but if not I'll just return the camera.

I went back to Best Buy today at 6:30pm after shabbos. Just for perspective, let me tell you that there were 4 of us there at the same time with this same problem - the missing IBM webcam registration card. (shouldn't there be about 16,000 people across the country with this same problem? Shouldn't Best Buy HQ have issued some kind of a memo to all the stores about this by now?) The CSR lady made some phone calls and all she could come up with was this, "The computer department supervisor says that the registration card requirement on the rebate form must have been a misprint on our part. Just go ahead in send it in." BS! It's not his $40 on the line! I'm gonna try calling the phone number on the form for Inetcam on Monday. If I still can't get through to anyone, I'm just gonna return the stuff.

All right - first posting here!

I went to BB today about this issue. They called the BB rebate center (800-849-0444) who informed me that they are aware of the problem, and took down my name, address and phone number.
They then gave me a number to call at IBM (800-741-1365) on Monday, as well as a "case ID number." She also said that IBM was aware of the problem (none of the cams came with the card!)
So I'll try tomorrow and let you all know what they say. In the meantime, call the BB rebate center and get your case ID. BTW, she did not know whether the requirement of the reg. card would be waived, or a card sent out, or what.

BMdoobieW,

Thanks for checking. Is there any way you could get this in writing (email, fax or mail)? For these items, I'd rather return them now than have to fight for my money down the road.

I'm making copies of my GF3 and my Inetcam rebates. But before I send everything in, I'll wait when I call BB and Inet myself JUST to confirm everything.

You can call them and try to get that if you like. I, for one, believe them. The lady that answered the phone knew exactly what I was talking about because I'm sure hundreds of people are calling them today. They will honor it.
