Best Buy Gamers Card?

How does it work, wasn't sure where to post this..but it's 5 bucks off, games only?? Does it work with controllers?

I was going to go to Best Buy and purchase a Sony brand PS2 controller with my 13 bucks in best Buy cash..would I be able to use this too? (the controller is like 25 bucks)

are they still around? i went into a bestbuy and asked for one, but the person there said they didn't have them anymore. (bestbuy in Costa Mesa - Metro Pointe to be specific)

the coupons that expire this year come in a black insert with a yellow gift card, and the ones that expire at the end of 2005 are in a silver insert with a green gift card. the coupon takes $5 off any game or accessory over $19.99, you should be able to use it with the best buy cash since they are considered gift certificates and not coupons.

ermm, do they specifically have gamer written on them? i was looking for them, but didn't find them. When i asked someone ( i know cardinal mistake ) the guy said they didn't have them.

The Costa Mesa Best Buy doesn't have it anymore. It varies by Best Buy.

heres what i always do:

Take your game and one gamer's gift card to the cashier. First, hand the gift card and put ~$5 on it. Then, tell the cashier to ring up the game separately, hand over the gift card ($5) and the coupon on the back of gift card ($5 coupon) and pay the remaining with cash. so you essentially get $5 off.

I have done this about 3-4 times at best buy. Some cashiers are cool with it....infact, once i did it for 2 Xbox accessories and used 2 coupons in separate transactions..CSR was really patient and cool with it. Other time, the CSR refused to use the coupon at the same time, no worries, i just put $$ on GC, went out of store, came back and then used the coupon and Gift card with the same CSR....was worth the look on CSR's face 😀

They had them at the Tustin Marketplace Best Buy (but they were at the end of an aisle over by the games, not by the rest of the gift cards). Bought the GC, went outside, went back in and bought WoW using the gift card, the $5 coupon on the back, and paid the rest w/ credit card. *pricematched them to Circuit City's price too)

i got a better strategy, just take like 5 of them to the counter and put 1 penny on each, then just toss them and keep the coupons, no hassle next time.

actually, ive put anywhere from $0.01-$0.36 on BB giftcards before... just to get the coupon. then i go ahead and purchase my game w/ the coupon 😉

the look on the CSR's face when you hand them the giftcard and a penny to put on it is priceless.

my local bestbuy doesn't have anymore or they're all in the back somewhere.. bleh was gonna pick up wario world today

I wonder if Best Buy loses money when someone puts only one penny on the gift card. I mean, presumably the cost of pressing out the plastic and packaging it with paper must cost them more than one penny.

Rock on Devils!

My local BB has tons of them. They never ring up right for computer games, so the CSR has to hand write an invoice. It's annoying, but it's worth the $5.00. I generally put $5 on the gift card.

Around me, they changed them a bit.

Now the cards are platform specific and color coded. There are cards for the Gamecube, PS2 and Xbox. I couldn't find one for the PC, but I am sure they are there someplace. A bit of an annoyance to have them this way, but I suppose they can track who does what better this way.

Just an FYI I guess 🙂
