When I got Madden 2005 from Best Buy in Monclair, CA, there was an entire shelf below the games called "Coupon Book for Madden 2005". So I picked one up, not really looking at it until I got home.

Anyways, the first part is a bunch of $5 off certain upcoming video games (Nascar 2005, NBA live 2005, etc.), but I think the sweetest parts are near the end. There's a 20% off any DVD purchase...which I think is perfect if you wanna get the new Star Wars DVD set, which will be cheaper on its first week of release.

Other deals include $20 off 12 month X-Box Live starter kit, $3 off any greatest hits games.

I got one of these coupon books at lunch...they just had them sitting in a pile, and no where did it say "free coupon book with purchase of Madden 2005" so I just took one. Some decent coupons inside.

I wouldn't mind picking up the 20% off DVD coupon.

Are these only for people that buy Madden?

Lucky you. The BB in Pensacola, FL has a big fat sign that says almost exactly what you quoted. :frown: I was going to grab one then saw that sign.

I went back to see if I could get another one tonight, since I was in the area, but apparently the clerks have been properly educated about the coupons...so the thread title now edited....

That seems so dumb...the coupon books themselves have no cash value...their only "value" is what you get by spending money at Best Buy. So, in the very worst case scenario for them (where someone takes a coupon book without buying Madden), the only thing they will "lose" is the small amount of profit off of a DVD, etc. They will still MAKE a profit, and they will sell a piece of their inventory that they might not have othewise. I wonder what the clerks are saying to people if they try to take a book. Maybe I'll stop there tonight and see what happens.

btw, don't know if this is just in my book or not, but check out the expiration date on the %20 off DVD coupon; 3/6/04. Is anyone else having this problem, and if so is BB still honoring it since Madden 2005 was still a twinkle in John's eye on 3/6/04?
