Best Buy Blows

ok ok ok....I just went there to drop off my laptop for some repairs (hopefully be replaced 😀)

But while waiting...I went over the video card section just browsing on what they have in stock. So, while just looking around;

Just out loud I said "I like the X850XT I think they are good.."

best buy dude - "I think the 6800 Ultra OC can beat the X850XT"

me - " no not really, they are on par"

best buy dude - "believe me it's overclocked, and it has 512 mb of on board memory"

me - "well, I'm sure the 7800 GT oc (BFG) sure can beat that 6800 Ultra OC that you're talking about"

best buy dude - "No, the 6800 Ultra OC is the best out of the market"

that's then I realized that he is pulling my funny bone. I'm really surprised and wondering how smart the best buy customer assistance ppl are....

Just my experience, I found it funny he chose the 6800 Ultra over the 7800 GT

i have run into a few pretty cool best buy guys who know whats up. but you are right, usually they are complete morons who know nothing.

Hold on, Worst Buy carries 512 MB 6800U in their stores?

And yes, I quit after a couple of months for the exact same reason. Some guy that worked with me was handing out advice that integrated video cards (Intel ones) are better than discrete (ATI 9600).

I like their rewards program but their customer service is annoying. I went there once for a specific cell phone and the salesman was trying to get me to buy another one just because it could record video. I told him that I didn't want it and he got annoyed. Then I get to the cash register and the cashier doesn't give me my reward points but tries to get me to subscribe to 2 or 3 magazines. And I love how when you do something to your merchandise that you know how to do, like upgrade your computer, they warn you like it's the end of the world that your Best Buy warranty will become void.

you know, I kinda played around with them a bit hehehe..

Cause my linksys modem blew out somehow...
So, go to Best Buy, buy a modem of theirs, return mine, didn't notice the mac addresses and versions were different...

oh well, love it 😀

when i used to work the returns counter at Future Shop (owned by Best buy, and it's really similar), I always checked serial numbers on routers (and everything else for that matter), and caught a few people.
the worse was when they'd have the balls to tell me that they didn't switch the routers and that the obviously old router is the one they bought and that it's defective.
If someone ever lied to us at the counter during a return/exchange/transaction, they'd have a hell of a hard time when they'd ever ask for anything.

Why do you even go to Best Buy? I stay home and order everything online...saves me work and I don't have to put up with people like him.

I got a laptop as a grad gift from my mom. it still has it's warranty. So I rather let them do the job. It's over heating anyways...no idea with laptops 😱
