That $350 eMachine looks kinda tempting. It would be a nice little PC to do some home office work on.

All the more reason to visit Best Buy on Black Friday, buy only their advertised specials that cause them to lose money, then leave without buying anything else.

quentinterintino,

Thanks for the WSJ article link - I heard about this on the radio this morning on my way to work. I hope this will not become a trend among the retailers ...

Maybe it could be a good thing? I know I've always thought BB employees were morons in their departments... maybe extra training would help?

However, 15% restocking fees SUCK! I'll be more than happy to shop somewhere that I can return shoddy products that I've bought (assuming everything is returned in saleable condition).

It seems dumb that they are complaining about customers who take advantage of THEIR promotions.

Thanks! I will remember that if you ever come into my store!
BTW I always try to work deals for my customers. Also I was one of the Black Friday shoppers last year at the store I am working at this year, funny how things change.

Hey, has anyone tried bf2004.net this morning. It seems that I am being redirected to a different page with a picture of a badger on it. No joke. The page says, welcome to badger. You think that bf2004.net was shut down? :Q

How much leeway to you guys get to work deals? For instance if you are a week late on a sale price can they still give it to you?

Thanks

I wouldn't say all BB employees are morons. There are plenty of not too knowledgeable people in my department and store, but there are some that really do know alot about computers and home theater equipment etc.

There's not much we can do about prices or getting customers deals since we aren't on commisions. And if you are a week late on a sale price, we can't do anything for you. If the price tag is still listed though, maybe because it hasn't been changed or updated since a sale we can give you that price. I wouldn't get too pushy though, my store has an employees first policy and will throw out irate customers.

I know all BB employees aren't morons... I just can't help to think of the guy who told me you couldn't get both Firewire AND USB 2.0 on a PCMCIA card because all that "stuff wouldn't fit". I just had to laugh! How did that guy think processors fit?

That's great your store has an employee's first policy - well managed places in general have policies like that.

Do you really blame Best Buy for instituting the policies in that article? I see people play games like that every day and it ruins the profitability of a good company. Best Buy does have a lot to worry about from Wal-Mart and ::cough:: Dell, which is why it is changing strategies. Its called adopting to the marketplace and I applaud them for it

Nah I BLAME best buy.

I bought a microsoft mouse for $19 a while ago. Fry's had the same mouse for $14 a week later

Best buy REFUSED to pricematch but matched up to $16...'Their Cost they said'.

Why print on the wall that you price match then you don't. I didn't even get my $.50 for the 10% extra. NOW THAT SUCKS

I'm all for a vendor maintaining profitability, but they need to stop pricematching if they have such a problem with it instead of hassling customers who want to take advantage of their policy. Best Buy has control of their store and it is well within their rights to refuse to pricematch, but they need to take the HUGE sign off the wall that says that they pricematch. I've tried to pricematch once at a Best Buy for a CD that Circuit City had on sale and it was a huge hassle. The Circuit City 2 miles away was out of stock, but the one 15 miles away was in stock and they wouldn't price match to the one 15 miles away because it was out of the competitor zone. I drive 38 miles each day to work, so 15 miles is nothing.
