Best Buy Backdoored me!!!

Monday I jumped on a 10% off deal BB had on their BFG cards, so 359.99. When I received the invoice, the price was 399.99. I emailed Cust svc., and here is a snippit...

"We appreciate your comments about receiving the sale price.

corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated
offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an
order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and
your credit card charged. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a credit for
the price difference."

BULLSHIZZZ!!!
Thats fraud and illegal, is it not? What should I do about this?

if it's in their agreement (you know, those long things you don't read) before you buy it, then it's perfectly legal. you're accepting their terms when buying something, whether you read it or not. you got hosed!

i ordered on monday and mine is still showing the 10% off price. i hope they do not change this for everybody. i will be pissed if they do. mine will not ship till monday.

This is exactly why I don't pre-order, order ahead of time, etc. If I'm parting with my money, I expect the product to be in my hands. Otherwise, give me a call when you actually have it for me to take home.

Mine still shows at $386 including tax and next day air and I purchased mine on Sunday. Callled customer service to verify price and he said it was correct. Unfortunately, he also verified that they won't be getting more until next week. I don't know if that means anything. I might just cancel and wait for my x800xt($398 no tax and free shipping) that may never get here!

Cancel the order.

btw they can put it in their agreement if they want but it is still a classic bait and switch which will land them in court. BB has been fined rather heavily in the past for these exact kinds of business practices. It is one of the reasons I have since stopped buying from them.

Boycott Beast Buy 😉

and gain satisfaction when they finally "go under"

Along with Gateway, they are the WORST retailer still in business.

And NOTHING you can do . .. BB does NOT care about you or ANY other customer

Bestbuy.com is the absolute worst for "Pre Orders."

While I love the retail Best Buy stores for deals on computer games and DVDs, I will never buy from their online store again. I preordered a 6800 Ultra and received a constant stream of "Order Status" emails that juggled shipping dates and backorder delays. To top that, the customer service reps on their 800# are ineffective and boarderline incompetant. I finally cancelled the order out of sheer frustration with their practices.

I thought it especially lame that the 6800 Ultra was on sale over the past weekend but nobody could place an order as it was "out of stock" LOL

In any event, I wish you luck in getting the the GT sale price but usually folks don't win against BBY.com

I would not be so sure it's entirely legal, especially if the price given is reasonably within a percentage value of the actual price.

That last part sounds bogus. Did you get a screenshot of your preorder with the lower price?

I found out when I got the invoice they switched...when it was in my cart, it was 359. So, I dont have proof that it was 359. But for 400, I'll just get one somewhere where it is in stock, so yes, I will cancel this BB order and get BFG from another company, or evga with far cry, even though I have the DVD european version of FC.

If they charged you the $399 it's illegal regardless of what their disclaimer says. As to what you can do about it, not much. Contact your state AG, contact the BBB, or let them ship you the card then dispute the difference with the CC. But the last one aint going to work unless you can prove you 'bought' the card at $359.

I pre-ordered City of Heroes from bestbuy.com. Oh boy, I won't ever pre-order (or order) from them again...

I got an email saying that it was backordered for a week (this was after I had already received a copy from ebworld.com). I called up and asked to have it canceled. "Sorry, we can't do that, it's already been sent to our warehouse for processing." WTF? It takes a week to process a backorder? It ended up taking 2 weeks to arrive after the release date... with second-day shipping.

To contrast the BB is the  posts, my $299.99 BFG 6800GT OC is on it's way, and shipped exactly when they said it would from day one 🙂 Maybe it's a karma thing?

I cry at night because I didn't know about that deal.

Well, make sure when it gets to you there wasn't a missprint on the GT...wouldn't that just be "Best Buy" of them to send you a standard 6800? I'm knocking on wood for you.

No worries M8, and thanks for the kind thought. I verified the product#, price, and shipping already, and others who got in on the deal but chose faster shipping have their's already 😉 My condolences that they d*cked you over the way they evidently do so many others.

I have to share my Best Buy experience...

I bought a 5900xt around 6/11 last month, and four days later, BB has the 6800s up for preorder. I called the retail store I bought the 5900 from and asked if it was okay to purchase the other one and then, when it becomes available, I can simply return the 5900.

Well, the 6800 was supposed to ship a week ago but got delayed as you guys noticed. So I went back to the retail store and asked to speak to the manager to see if I could extend the 30 day return policy. He looked at me, and with contempt in his voice, stated "You mean to tell ME, you want to RETURN something you used for a MONTH??" I was a bit mystified, as this IS their policy, and I said "Yeah, and I wanted to see if you could extend the month by a couple days (the month ends 7/11, fedex has the card coming in 7/12...so maybe by like a day extension). He basically said no way in hell and that maybe he'll let me return the 5900 if it's within the 30 day return. I stated "Uh, no. You WILL accep the return because that's your POLICY!" Jeesh, you'd think I was killing babies in this guy's eyes.

Anyway, I totally totally understand if they can't extend that policy (by a day...), ut what really pissed me off was the treatment i received. I tried to cover all my bases, make sure they were cool with what I was doing, and ultimately, was treated like crap. This is the West LA Best Buy on Venice and Overland by the way, just so you know. The manager is a rude jerk and I won't be buying from them again.

Sorry, just venting here, but it's always good to know this guy is stuck as a MANAGER for a retail store and I'm much better off than this loser is. ;-)

My 6800GT will be delivered tommorrow via Ground. 🙂 Now I just need my A64 3200+ and motherboard to be delivered.
As for BestBuy, they will be getting nice rec from me at Resellerratings once I receive my card.
