Best Buy 25% Off PNY video cards

This weeks Best Buy ad has 25% off PNY video cards. I'll check it out today, but a $399 6800GT at $300 sounds pretty decent. A $299 6800 is OK if you missed the $250 6800 + HL2 + Farcry last week. I'm not sure how good a card PNY makes, but I think the warranty is 'Lifetime'.

Eh, PNY is quite shady. Lifetime means "lifetime" of the product. Meaning, once they stop manufacturering the card, its no longer under warranty (it could be a week, or up to 2 years from now). BFG is the only company with true lifetime warranty.

Because of that shadyness, I avoid PNY.

Not a bad deal for the videocard though.

Damn getting me excited over nothing! Bestbuy does not carry PNY high end cards, they sell BFG high end Nvidia products. According to their website they have a PNY 6600GT AGP coming soon, if that was in then 25% off the $250 price would make it a nice deal. But chances are that they won't get it in before the sale ends.

The sale is good on their online store too. The highest end card is a 6600GT PCI-E for $187.49 after 25% off. The AGP model says coming soon and you can't order it yet. You probably won't get one of those before the sale runs out. Considering the AGP model is selling for $50 more than the PCI-E at Newegg and they have 6600 non-GT for $120, I'm thinking it might be better to wait for Nforce4 and pass on getting another AGP card. My old Ti4200 still has some life left...

After spending far too much time with the supervisor, I was able to buy a PNY 6800GT for $300. Of course, they don;t have them. In fact, there isn't a Best Buy any where near there who actually has them. As mentioned earlier, these aren't available on-line either.

They have a sku and the inventory system says they exist, so I bought it (some order-it-from-inventory type thing - sound pretty tricky, but that's just me). I'll give it a few weeks before "returning" it or fighting for an equivalent substitute (they DO sell that BFG model...). I don't have high hopes, but it's worth carrying a bit on the CC to let this play out.

As a side note, I was able to get $10 for each $100 spent. I'm not sure if this is sotre-wide, or a "gift" for my "pain and suffering". YMMV.

there are definately good deals from best buy, i mean i got half life 2 and a bfg 6800oc for 350 - 20 dollars instantly and - 105 mir so 230 in the end... fricken sweet deal if i do say so.

I'm not quite sure why that Best Buy was able to do a "sellorder" (or something thereabouts). I stopped at a different BB and they didn't even carry that card (just that 5500 and 5700le). In any case, I still have one purchased at Best Buy and I'm officially "waiting on deliver".

I also stopped at CompUsa and did a price match against my receipt. Now I just need a home for the card from CompUsa...
