Question "Best" (but less expensive) X570 board, with 64GB DDR4-3600 and dual PCI-E 4.0 x4 NVMe support? Dual GPUs too.

Currently running an R5 3600 CPU (6C/12T Zen2), in an Asus B450-F ROG STRIX Gaming ATX board. Works pretty well, for the most part. Have 2x 2x8GB TridentZ RGB DDR4-3600 ("for AMD") RAM kits, for a total of 4x8GB. Want the new rig to have 4x16GB, RGB or not. (Or even 2x32GB, if that would play better with the memory controller.)

Specifically, though, I want the ability to run 2x NVMe SSDs, as un-throttled as possible, meaning, both should run at PCI-E 4.0 x4. (I may not go with PCI-E 4.0 drives initially, I'm thinking of 2x 2TB EX950 drives in RAID-0 to start with.)

I also want a board (ATX please), that can run 2x GPUs, with sufficient clearance to get some airflow between them. So, I guess triple-spaced between GPUs?

My B450-F ROG STRIX has a pretty great slot layout, I can use both GPUs, and have a third PCI-E 2.0 x4 slot for a 10GbE-T PCI-E x4 card. Or at least I did, until it burned out. :( (The card, not the mobo, but then the mobo burned out the 1GbE-T Intel NIC onboard too, a week later. Gremlins/ghosts.)

Interestingly, the cheapest (new, currently) X570 ATX mobo, the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, also ticks all of my feature-requested boxes. Plus, it's CHEAP.

I think that I'll invest in a few of these boards, when I get some money.

Great combo deal, R5 3600 + board, for $280 or so. That's $174.99 for the CPU, and $103.99 for the board. For an X570, with dual NVMe PCI-E 4.0 x4 slots!

Anyways, I've been more than pleased with my initial Skylake introduction purchase of some ASRock Z170 Pro4S ATX mobos, they were full-featured, checked a lot of box, and also were CHEAP. (Paid around $80 ea., for them.) Still using them to this day. Wouldn't mind, possibly upgrading those two boxes, with the above combo deal components, and having three Ryzen 3000-series rigs to use, along with my secondary mining boxes.

Asus Prime X570-P I believe has what OP is looking for. It can hold 128GB of memory. I think it has 2 M.2 PCIE 4.0 x 4 storage.

Any of the high-end boards should fit the bill. x570 Aorus Master is what I have, and I'm pretty sure you can do all of the above. Not sure on the PCIe clearance though.

Aorus ultra?

Thing about giggy is if it works, they are awesome boards.
The moment something goes wrong tho, there RMA's are probably just as bad as ASUS. (which is pretty bad)
They give you refurbished beat up boards, sometimes its really bad that you may need to return the RMA for another RMA.

Ive had both scenarios happen to me.
1. Board, rock solid, strong, no issues, and been chugging along 24/7 (Z270 Gaming 7)
2. Had to rma 4 months after purchase, they sent me a trashed up refurbished once even with bent pins, and had to re RMA that board twice.
(X299 Gaming 9).

I got fed up with them that i ended up getting a eVGA Dark x299 and the Gaming 9 sits in the box i as an emergency spare.

I would look strongly into ASRock.
Infact my favorite vendors in order are:

eVGA (unfortunately they don't do AMD) > ASrock > Giggy = ASUS > MSI

I have had horrible luck with MSI, that i just don't even bother with them anymore.
Some people have had good experiences, but for me, its 5/5 times i failed with MSI.

Still planning on getting the ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 when I get my stimulus check, for all three rigs (or would that be a wise idea, two of them are running OG R5 1600 CPUs).

Still deciding if I can spare enough out of the check to get a pair of new 3000-series CPUs to go with. Currently, those rigs have GTX 1660ti cards in them, MSI Ventus. One of them has 32GB of 3000 RAM, one has 16GB of 3000 RAM. Was contemplating some NVMe and RAM, basically full update of those two rigs, except for the GPUs.

I primarily do mining on them, and upgrading the CPUs alone would probably net me $0.30 more a day with each of them.

Now I'm thinking about the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite (w/Wifi AX). Has 3x PCI-E 4.0 NVMe slots, and multiple GPUs slots (PCI-E 4.0), some people complained about the board failing a few months in, though, which makes me wonder about the "tradition" of Gigabyte AM4 boards over-volting Vsoc by default. (My B450 Aorus Pro Wifi was defaulting to like 1.3V! Supposed to be max 1.1V.)

no no no no no... gaming boards are not designed for constant load 24/7.
You will eventually burn them out unless you blast a fan on all your mosfets, and ram.
I went though boards like a pack of beef jerky when i used to WCG and F@H.

Look for a workstation or go full on server board, and by heavens do not over clock it as it stresses the boards out even more.
In Fact instead of getting several systems, id honestly consolidate to a single EYPC platform, or even Threadripper.

Mining doesn't tax the mobo VRMs. At all. The CPU will barely top 10% load in most cases, and I used to mine with crappy old AM2/AM2+ CPUs.

i thought it taxes everything no?
is it only the GPU?
I know F@H and WCG tax'd everything down to ram.

Mining is GPU-only unless you're mining something like XMR.
Meh.... larry get a watercooled GPU then.... or learn to watercool just your GPU.
The beauty of a GPU that loads at 4#C and has a waterblock even under the VRMS is a thing of magic. ;)

Funny I am kinda in the same boat you are. I just upgraded my system about 3 weeks ago to a ryzen 3700x and msi b450 tomahawk max. Since I have never owned or used a nvme ssd, I didnt know how much I cared about only have 1 m.2 slot. Now, I kinda wish this mobo had 2 m.2 slots at full speed.

I was doing research trying to figure out what the best performing cheapest x570 boards were out there. And I really didnt want a Gigabyte board. And I got the B450 for a pretty good price, so I really didnt want to spend over $140 or so for a new x570 either.

The ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4 you think is worth it?

Let me know which board you go for cause I am trying to narrow down the best x570 board in the $150 price area as well.

Another vote for the Asus Prime. I would avoid any of the cheap or midrange MSI x570 boards. According to hardware unboxed they have terrible thermals.

Late to the party here, but my Asrock X570 Steel Legend has dual NVmE m.2 slots, with built in heat sinks for both of them. And supports dual GPU's.

to bad nvme drives shot up in price, also why stock up on this board when newer ones are coming out? surely they will have something soon with the 4000 series, what would be cool is if they had boards that ran the mobile 4000 series chips like back in the amd mobile barton days. whats the point of 2x950ex 2tb drives?
