Best budget ram?

What's the best brand of to get if you don't want to pay a lot, are not looking to do any extreme overclocking, but at the same time don't want to buy cheap generic ram? Is Crucial any good?

Crucial is good, yes. These chips run stable, and though they've lost the overclocking crown, I still think they rate conservatively. IE if you buy some 3200 CAS 3.0, you should be able to run it at 2.5 easily.

Back in the day, Crucial was excellent. My 2100 ram (rated 2.5) runs up to 151 CAS 2.0 or 166 2.5 (I bet I could push even higher, but I'm happy at PC2700 right now).

Buffalo ram is good too, and it's pretty inexpensive stuff.

BTW, to let you know, Fatwallet has some coupons to save $10 or so on ram orders from Crucial if you decide to buy from them.

Buffaloe technology is pretty reliable and cheaper than most of your big name ram.

You might also look at the Sunday ads for regular Kingston RAM deals offering rebates.
