Anymore can you really go wrong in the budget players?

I personally have owned several Panasonics but they're likely out of your price range if you want budget models (since that means $30 these days).

If you actually care enough to spend $70 I'd find a low end panasonic with faroudja (if any still exist, been a couple years since I've bought one).

You might check that list too, again if you can get something with a faroudja deinterlacer at a price you're willing to spend you'll be glad you did.
