?? Best budget CPU, mobo, RAM, PSU combo

I'm looking for some budget components. I have a setup that I'm rather sure is beyond repair, and Anandtech always has the best suggestions for components.

So, this time I need
A motherboard that supports PCI Express for my 16x pcie video card (although I wouldn't be mad at 8x)
A CPU/HSF that goes with that motherboard
RAM for the above
A PSU not-needing-to-support SATA

So, since I'm out of the loop for pricing, can you show me a good deal or two on these?

if you are going for a budget setup, i'd say just grab whatever fry's is selling in a combo deal, and some decent value ram.

depending on your needs i tend to think these are the better really budget setups out there.

newegg has the asus
ASUS P5SD2-X for $69, and a Pentium 805 chip for $135. pretty much as dirt cheap as dual core can get (well it hink frys had a deal with some random ecs board for $160 last week... so if you can get that get that).

for amd, youc ould probably get like a fairly inexpensive nforce4 or nforce6100 board socket 939/754 for like $70 such as a chaintech vnf4. pair it up with a venice 3200+ or something like that.

any decent ATX2.01/BTX PSU 250watts or above has at least 22amps on the 12 volt rail so that is generally enough unless you are an insane gamer. just make sure you get a atx2.0/btx psu and not an atx 1.3 or higher.

Still waiting on s939 Sempron's to hit the retail market. One of these would rock for a "budget" system and, if you use a decent board, you can later upgrade to an Athlon 64, X2 or Opteron.

One of my machines is a Compaq w/ a s939 Sempron (64-bit instructions enabled according CPU-Z) and it's rather impressive for the $$$. I added another 512MB DDR (768MB total) and a Sapphire X1600 XT. The system is *very* stable (ASUS board) and performs quite well for what I do... video work, digital imaging and games hum along nicely at 1024x768 with settings maxed or at 1280x1024 on medium-high'ish settings.

For an extra $10 you can get 512mb PC3200 RAM
