I am building second system for my kids.

I need a Case, PS, CPU, CPU Fan, Ram, and Mother board for around $200. CPU speed is not my main concern. The Motherboard does need onboard sound, and network. 256 megs of ram would be nice. What would you guys recommend in my budget?

Thanks

FOXCONN SUPER CASE MID TOWER CASE PC-115 w/ 350W PSU=37$ shipped
ECS K7S5A PRO USB 2.0=47$ shipped
DURON 1.2GHZ=34$ shipped
KINGSTON KVR266X64C25/256 256MB 32x64 PC2100 DDR RAM CL 2.5-38$ shipped
GC68 8-9$ shipped
total 165$ with all but the cooler from Newegg

Good upgrades would be
AMD XP1700+ 45$ shipped
Asus A7N266-VM 71$ shipped
also from newegg

That would bring you in at exactly 200$ for a kick butt system and the Asus has G2MX graphics and dolby digital so they get extras for nothing :)

I would go with the samething but an Epox 8RDA+. The built in sound is great and you can unlock the processor if you get a 1700+ so you will get more bang for your buck. Nice suggestions

agreed and not spending $11 more for a Athlon 1700+ instead of a Duron 1.2 seems extremely silly IMO, cheap computer or not.

nice recommendations here.
