Hey Guys,

I know that this post might belong in Motherboards but I thought I'd post it here because you guys might be able to give me a better (and more) response. I'm getting a deal on a Barton 2500+, and I'm wondering what motherboard would be the best? It doesn't need and fancy features (on board video, audio or ethernet) as I've already got pci cards for them. For a barebones motherboard, what would you pick on a tight budget?

Thanx,

Ryan

Cheap board that will do 166Mhz chips, then look for a KT400 board. They can be had pretty cheap now, around $60 for a good one. But there are also some nForce2 boards that are around the $80 mark now.

You could get an nForce 2 mobo at Newegg for $75 they have the Shuttle AN35N Ultra ($70 + $5 S&H) or the Epox 8RDA+ for $82 also at Newegg.

It's true there are some potential performance advantages with the nforce boards, but I'd include the Albatron KX400-8X pro among those I'd consider for a budget upgrade right now. I think it's $69.99 shipped from newegg at present and has nice user ratings.
