Maybe an early version of IE or Netscape? Might have to Google around to see if anyone still has the available.

Is adding more memory a possibility? Doubling what you have would make a big difference. I've got an old Pentium (orginally 75MHz, upgraded to 200MHz with an overdrive processor) that has 128MB RAM and a video card with 32MB memory. I don't use it much on the Internet (actually use it much at all except to backup files from my primary computer via the network). It has IE 6, which seems to work as fast on it as IE 5.5 did.

It's a compaq, with 16mb integrated into the mobo and the other 16mb can be replaced by a 32mb stick for a max of 48mb. Not worth it imo.

I don't really want a text only browser, so lynx is out. I'll check out arachne. Any other ideas?

Try various versions of Opera if you do not mind a quirky browser. Otherwise, I would suggest MyIE2 lite which is simply a skin for IE. MyIE2 is better than plain IE because it includes a popup blocker and tabs. Their new version called Maxthon is probably too bloated for your K6. K-Meleon is sometimes suggested by others as they imply it as sort of a Gecko-lite. My experienced showed otherwise as it was painfully slow on my dinosaur.
