Now that I'm ripping all these CDs, these Memorex 24X CDRs suck. They only burn at 16X. What are the best quality of CDRs?

I use mainly FUJI's, but I believe any of the CD's that are made in Japan are the "best".

brand doesnt matter

what factory they are made in does

What you want is "made in japan"

Just search the cdr label for the "made in...", you will get "made in japan" or made in "taiwan"

The ones made in japan usually come from Taiyo Yuden or Kodak Japan

Taiyo yuden, or ty, is used in fuji, some imation, some memorex, some tdk, and some maxwell, they are l33t :)

Kodak japan is the l33t3st, but hardest to find and tell. I believe they come in the kodak cdrs

Anything from taiwan will be inferior to that from japan

Theres nothing wrong with taiwan cdrs though, as the technology has improved

The ones you buy in the hundred pack? And they're clear on both sides, so when they fall on the floor and bust open, you're fvcked!

Have any of you had CD-R's that discolored? I had some, I think they were TDK's that would discolor on the label side. Possibly got left in the sun? A couple of them that did it were in my car, but some were in a CD case in the house.

The Kodaks I've bought in the past don't have anything printed on the top. But yeah, I exclusively buy TY's (usually FujiFilm)

Odds are its some cheap generic :)

I've tried all kinds of CD-Rs and the only one's I don't like are TDKs. For some reason, a lot of devices don't like to read them and I think 3 times my burner failed a write. Nothing really to get excited about, but since there are so many other brands, I just stay away from TDK.

CD-Rs which are manufactured by Taiyo Yuden which are typically the TDK or Fujifilm brand, they usually say "MADE IN JAPAN" on the outside package.
