Im looking to learn linux. I bought "redhat linux unleashed" which is a massive book, but its definitely not for a newbie. I was wondering does anyone have any recommendations for a book that will be very clear and detailed on the basic aspects of linux. Im a Windows user, so Im not used to the console. I need basic things which were basic in windows, i.e. changing resolution, adding modems, hard drives, etc, explained very clearly. Thanks for any help.

i highly recommend sticking with the internet and making yourself a book or sites. I honestly think its the best source, however a book doesnt hurt.

Reading stuff on the internet is good (most up-to-date information), but somtimes it's nice to just sit down and browse a book.....I like the this one

I thought that Linux Unleashed covered all that stuff. I can't recall whether or not Learning Linux 3rd ed. from O'Reilly & Associates does or not.

One site you should certainly consider is Linux Newbie.
