Decided i wanna pick up my acoustic that been in the closet and learn how to play it for real.... I had lessons when i was 8 and i can play a few songs, but i need something that can get everything accomplished...

I dont need one to teach me how to read music, as i've played the trumpet for about 10 years now.

I just need a good beginner/intermediate book to help me learn the chord fingerings, and help me with the progressions...

Any suggestions? BTW, cheap is good 🙂

for about 30 bucks you can get a really nice classical guitar book, teaches you the notes too, but if you already know them then just learn the songs! 2nd and 3rd section are great, a book by "duncan" i think

Screw books and stuff like that.

Download Power Tab software. Powertab.net has almost any song you want. Start learning 1 song at a time, and just jam freestyle till your hands cramp or you lose interest.

Repeat daily.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

chordfind.com has almost all of the major chords listed in tab format. Work on these first. Its easier to learn a song if you know the basic chord shapes well.
