Shuttles AK31 Ver.2 or Biostars M7VDK

I'm not set on whether to get DDR or stick with SDRAM, though if I stick with SDRAM I might get Shuttles AK11, what do you guys/gals think?

rebldomine: I would say Yes!

That mainboard is set up for AMD Socket A Duron/Athlon CPU @ 200/266MHz FSB..

I have 2 ECS K7S5A mobo's with 1.4 chips in them. I must say, for the price, they are fantastic. Onboard NIC (Cool), onboard Audio (Yawn), and it used my generic PS, didn't need an AMD approved one like my Asus K7M266 did.

Only drawback is no OCing ability. Oh well.

P.S. Check out Anand's review of it. Here

As do I, with an Athlon 1400. The combo is a rocket, plus it has onboard 4.1 sound. Not a single problem to report, even though it was a refurb from newegg.com.

Why not the Epox 8K7A? That board was all the rage around these parts and I'm typing this message from one right now! Good OCer too! :D

It's a DDR board but at this point, it seems DDR is going to be the future format, whether for AMD's or now, P4s.... and DDR is the same price but with better performance than regular SDRAM.

Yeah, the Epox is a good board. But for a low cost system I might go with an ECS K7S5A mobo and DDR.

DDR for sure.
I'm not familiar with the boards you mention.
I like my 8K7A but if I were building one today I would look at the new chipsets.
Have you read Anands article here?

The ECS K7S5A has the SiS 735 chipset that kicked the poo outta a bunch of stuff including the AMD 76x and VIA KT266 chipsets but I also heard that there was a couple issues with it. I personally have an ASUS A7V, A7V133, Abit KT7-RAID, ECS K7SEM and a Abit KG7. The KG7 replaced a ASUS A7M266, I had a 1GHz AXIA @1.33GHz on there and when I changed it to the KG7 I bumped it to 1.4GHz N/P. I know its almost taboo to recommend a Abit around here but I was pretty impressed with the KG7.
As far as purchasing right now? Tyan Tiger K7 w/MP's! Otherwise I am going to wait for the VIA KT266A Boards to come out.
