Generally, the best manufacturers are Taiyo Yuden and Mitsubishi Chemical. Note they are both Japanese and sell their own brands as well as supply other companies such as Fuji and Verbatim for their own branding. But those companies also brand lower grade Taiwanese manufactured discs. So, it is important to know exactly what you are buying and also what is recommended by the designer of the drive who should publish a list which varies by specific media type as incompatibilities are still unfortunately a problem. For user data see the database lists at videohelp.
Riteks are a great consumer brand. I use Ritek CDr discs, DVD+R discs, and DVD-R discs. All work great. I've used them in a Lite-on 401s @ 811s and a Pioneer 108, as well as a Lite-on combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW. Newegg has been having some great deals on them, do a search for Ritek (Ridata is sometimes printed on the actual disc).
Could anyone explain the differance between DVD+R and -R
I seem to be lost on that subject.. or just a short little guide or something would be much appreciated
